We played this several times this year on Christmas morning (also the Christmas Revels album of Medieval songs) and it was so pretty and sweet. I'll definitely be listening to it throughout the year.

After hearing Bocelli on the Today Show one morning I wondered why I had never purchased any of his CDs. I went out immediately and randomly purchased a CD and fell in love with his voice and songs. I listen to this in my car constantly and never tire of hearing the great passion in his singing.

Has all the popular songs that are in the movie. However what left us a little disappointed was that the remaining dozen or so songs on the CD are all instrumentals. We bought this for our 5 year old who loved the movie and enjoys singing along with the songs. The first 8 songs are great with the catchy choruses and funny rhyming phrases but the remaining 12 are NOT chocolately delicious.

I first bought Moulin Rouge 2 soundtrack because I wanted the songs from the movie w/ the actual singers. But there's little of that on this soundtrack. It's a good compliment to the first soundtrack, but my collection still feels very short. Even with both CDs, I am still missing the *original* versions of the songs, sung by the actors, as they are sung IN the movie. The ones sung by the actors are remixed for the soundtracks, and most of them are not sung by the actors. There are a couple of instrumentals on this CD as well, which personally I don't care for. I bought the CD because I wanted to hear Ewan and Nicole sing, not a bunch of instruments!

If you're a Moulin Rouge fan, this is a good addition to your collection, but you'd be better to just record all the songs with a ... Read More

Hans Zimmer's powerhouse score for King Arthur was easily the best thing about the movie. Antoine Fuqua's pseudo-epic film was poorly conceived, historically apalling, and suffered from studio-neutering to get a PG-13. Somehow surviving the chaos that was King Arthur, Zimmer's score is still as fresh and powerful as it was when the movie came out--and tanked.

Some reviewers rightly noted that the movie was downbeat, dark, and very antiheroic, and that Zimmer's score was so powerful and loud it seemed inappropriate to Fuqua's grim work. They were certainly right. Divorce it from the film, and the score is a glorious stand-alone piece.

The score is reminiscent of Gladiator (Zimmer's scores all sounding similar in one way--or a dozen) but much louder and with a lot of dense, Philip ... Read More

When he released 'Con te Partiro' in the U.S. in 1997, Andrea Bocelli became a household name for the soaring emotional piece that has become his best-known song. However, on 2001 album "Cieli di Toscana", the crossover artist treats listeners to 14 songs recorded with the voice that has captured the world.

Unlike many of his previous hit records, "Cieli di Toscana" is a pop album, but unlike Madonna or Britney Spears, it is filled with the soul and delicate emotion you would find in more classical music. The album opens with the rich-sounding 'Melodramma' then chills to a more relaxed feel with 'Mille Lune Mille Onde'. From this point on, the record switches from lavish orchestration to tunes that, if they weren't in Italian, could have been hits on U.S. radio.

As with his previous ... Read More

I've just finished my second listen of to 'Kingdom of Heaven.' Being such a Zimmer fan, it was delightful to hear an entire work by one of his protoges. I need another several listenings to really peel back the layers, but I thought I'd offer up a few initial thoughts.

One can definitely hear the influence of Zimmer in this score, especially in his use of brass and solo vocals. It should be noted that there were similarities between the movies of 'Gladiator' and 'Kingdom of Heaven,' so it should be no surprise that the sound of this movie is reminicent of 'Gladiator.' On a quick side note, I really think 'Gladiator' set a standard for score composition, regardless whether one thinks that standard is good or bad; one need but take a look at almost any epic movie made since then to hear echoes of it's ... I really liked this CD. I love classical crossover, and wish there were more bands like these girls. The only thing I don't like about them is..they seem to be about their image, and just showing off their bodies with their instruments. I just ignore it and listen to the awesome music.

My favorite tracks are 4, 6, and basically the whole CD.

I also wish these girls would hurry up and make another CD!
