Over and over we played "Die Menge der Engel" - - it is stunningly beautiful! The loftiness of the voices, wonderful. We loved the boys/children's choruses on many of the other pieces on the album. Duets by Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavorati - - magnifico! It is a pleasant compilation of traditional favorites and awesome classical pieces that are worth listening to again and again.

Prayer: A Windham Hill Collection (CD) by Michael Manring If you're a high-strung person like me, I recommend this beautiful, gentle, instrumental music that is both soothing and emotionally engaging, yet never maudlin. It has been a "God-send" while driving in heavy morning rush-hour traffic. Despite all the aggravations caused by socially-challenged drivers who don't know how to share the road, I find that I still arrive at work calm and centered thanks to the beneficial effects of this masterful Windham Hill CD. After weeks of listening to it every single morning, it's still not boring. I strongly recommend it for Type A personalities!

I play this for my son when he is going to sleep and it is enjoyable for both of us. A few of the songs are a little "off" the purely soothing edge, but it's still very nice.

I bought this recording for the Faure not knowing much more about Durufle than his "Four Motets on Gregorian Themes". What a shock! Never have I heard a more original piece of music than his "Requiem" which is ironic because he bases most of the themes on gregorian chants. The listener can easily tell that Shaw knew exactly what he wanted from his chorus and the orchestra because they follow every little nuance perfectly! The chemistry between musicians and conductor is so apparent, and the french textures and harmonies really wrap the listener in a warm blanket of music. I have heard this recording, another recording of the version with just organ and choir, and I plan to buy the Voices of Ascension version for chamber orchestra. I don't feel particularly qualified to comment on anyone's musicianship. However, I can tell the difference between an instrument well played and, well, the opposite. Love Ma's playing, and this is a nice representation of his repertoire.

Everything about this CD is absolutely first rate. From the other reviews you cannot doubt the musically perfect pitch, wonderful voice of Fernando Lima, but I must also highlight the perfect muscianship of the production including wonderful flute, piano, etc..It is not often where a singer can 'share' the production equally with first rate muscians and neither ever over-shadow the other!----This is a quality production rarely produced in the states anymore. Even folks who only like opera may love this, but it is best suited to the 'classically diverse' listener.----A feast for the ears!---- Fernando, please hurry on your next production, please, and thanks!!

Having listened to this CD I though it was outstanding. As a John William fan myself, I always find his technique absulutely brilliant and some of the tracks on there I haven't heard before, which is a bonus. I have quite a few CD's of him playing solo and together with Julian Bream. Also the group Sky he was with back in the early 1980's. This CD I have to say has got to be the best one yet in my collection of John Williams CD's. I would recommend this CD to all John Williams fans. All so, this CD is genuine and is not a copy from the real thing, which is nice to know. So at least you know what you are buying is worth it's value for money.
