I order this disc twice...both were listed as new. The first disc would not track properly in my auto CD player. Returned the first and recieved the replacment...same problem with first. Will not track properly in the car CD player. I burnt the disc onto a generic CD-R and it works fine. I've been told that occasionally music labels will use less than quality material and have results similar to mine. too bad considering the cost of quality CD's today. No reason to cut corners.

I have always been a fan of Etta James but this has got to be one of the best CDs I've ever purchased. Many CDs have a few great songs and then some you'd just as soon skip over. Not so on this one ! Each and every one is the Lady at her best. Definitely a great one !

I am a huge BLUES fan, but it is hard to find in my area, so I buy a lot of "BLUES" CDs. Although Keb" Mo is probably one of my favorites, I have played the Etta James CD all the way to work and back (60miles/day) every day since I received it from Amazon, and still not tired of her rich voice.

Very good selection of songs. A pleasure to listen to. Etta at the top of her game.

When songwriters Harry Warren and Mack Gordon had their composition At Last become the B-side to the 1942 Glenn Miller # 1 hit (I've Got A Gal In) Kalamazoo, they probably thought they had died and gone to Heaven. Especially when it too charted at a respectable # 14 with Ray Eberle doing the vocals. A decade later they struck paydirt again when the song was resurrected in the movie Orchestra Wives and then taken to # 2 by Ray Anthony & his orchestra, with Tommy Mercer doing the vocal. But in my humble opinion the best was yet to come, and when a 23-year-old from Los Angeles by the name of Jamesetta Hawkins decided to record it in 1961 under her stage name Etta James, from that point on it became HER song. I really hadn't listened to Etta James before, but recently heard a couple of her songs on [...] - well, I liked them and decided to get a cd. This woman really does Rock the House! What a voice! She reminds me a little of Tina Turner when she was with Ike. I think Janis Joplin may have been influenced somewhat by Etta James. I'm very happy with my purchase.

This cd is perfect if you are looking for some jazzy sexy blues. Her voice gives me goosebumps! It will make anyone an instant Etta James fan.

Not my favorite piece, but Etta always pleases.

I bought the CD for a friend but downloaded a copy - minus a few tracks - from iTunes. I first heard Etta's version of My Funny Valentine in the middle of a restless night. I've never heard anything quite like Etta's voice. I'm at a loss for words but Etta's interpretation of these jazz standards blow me away every time I listen to them. It may not be for you if you're into her edgier blues style. I find this the flavor of this CD stands apart as unique in her discography with an after hours jazz club feel. Etta's interpretive skill and abilty to dig in and own a tune are amazing. Some voices suffer as they age. Etta's only getting better. A bucketload of soul.
