Wonderful classical music. The CD is very relaxing and offers a wide variety of favorite classical music. I can't wait to listen to the other "Relaxing" CD's that are available.

Animal behaviorists have done some studies showing harp music is good at calming animals, especially cats. My cat was very skittish and unhappy as a result of very loud construction work next door and all other efforts to calm her down had not been totally successful. I got this and she (and I, if you must know) relaxed immediately. It is a beautiful sounding album. (And the bahaviorists have a point. Cats do seem to hear vibes in harp music we can't. It was like instant prozac for her.)

Having listened to this CD I though it was outstanding. As a John William fan myself, I always find his technique absulutely brilliant and some of the tracks on there I haven't heard before, which is a bonus. I have quite a few CD's of him playing solo and together with Julian Bream. Also the group Sky he was with back in the early 1980's. This CD I have to say has got to be the best one yet in my collection of John Williams CD's. I would recommend this CD to all John Williams fans. All so, this CD is genuine and is not a copy from the real thing, which is nice to know. So at least you know what you are buying is worth it's value for money. . Difficult to beat Pascal Rogé with Satie, but this disc is very fine indeed. Pair this disc with Rogé's "After the Rain" After the Rain...The Soft Sounds of Erik Satie Adequate faux-Magritte cover photo too. .

Ciccolini's recording of Satie's piano music had dominated decades as finest set, but only because there wasn't any rivals at the time. Now compared to other superior recordings, his playing, highly sophisticated, sounds rather conventional and shallow. I get an impression that this pianist regarded Satie's music as some witty light music. I would love complete satie piano works played with more depth and delicacy (Leeuw's earlier recording comes close to ideal, but it was not complete set). Thibaudet's complete recording is very fine, but again without much depth.

These days many music fans with grounding in good ol' rock and roll have bent their ears to light, melodic jazz standards. Here's a challenge: pick up this low-priced CD, take note of the famous names and that each track averages about 3 minutes in length - that's what us rockers have been raised on. A little crass, but....check this one out. I can't imagine any heavy metal fan turning away from the exquisite, haunting "Waltz No. 15 in A-flat, Op.39" by Brahms, or "La fille aux cheveux de lin..." by DeBussy; factor in 5 compositions by Chopin, and you've got a keeper. Maybe just beneath Zep on the carousel (but it's all in the proverbial family). Note that Chopin is next sectioned off, as one might expect in a Classical compilation.
