After hearing Bocelli on the Today Show one morning I wondered why I had never purchased any of his CDs. I went out immediately and randomly purchased a CD and fell in love with his voice and songs. I listen to this in my car constantly and never tire of hearing the great passion in his singing.

I wasn't sure what to expect. I know the cover art is a little cheesy. But the recording is fantastic. I think great pains were taken to make this as true to Hermann's original score as possible. It's clean, dynamic and really show how much contemporary film scoring was influenced by Bernard Hermann. And the thereminist on this is really first rate.
If you liked the original movie, are into film scoring or a theremin fan, this CD is highly recommended.

This is my first CD by the British viloinist Vanessa-Mae and I found it to be outstanding. All three pieces were exceptional and I never tire of hearing them again. For the third track if you close your eyes you're at the 1997 Hong Kong celebration of it's return to China.

As I listened to the Violin Fantasy I was thinking of Arikawa Shizuka's 2006 Olympic gold medal winning figure skating performance - especially her Ina Bauer movements. I have heard various pieces from Happy Valley in other settings but the combination of them all was outstanding. I have heard segments of Butterfly Lovers but this is the first time I've heard it in it's entirety and magnificent it is.

I would also call people's attention to the written forward of the liner. It tells you a great ... Read More

I saw the movie 4 times, and realized that I liked the music even better than the film! This is one of my favorite CD's and I listen to it all the time!

6.The Sheltering Sky: Music From The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack from: Virgin Records Us

Music : The Sheltering Sky: Music From The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
As with most soundtrack albums, you'll buy it because you really liked the film and want an aural souvenir of it. "The Sheltering Sky" certainly works in that regard. It even has the Lionel Hampton number used over the opening credits. Unfortunately, the tracks are not sequential, which lessens the souvenir value a bit, but it's still a good buy for lovers of the film or for fans of Ryuichi Sakamoto's music.

Once again, a super hit! Andrea Bocelli's singing is always and ever filled with nuances and emotion. It is extremely expressive and a delight to listen to. Often my very soul and being is filled with the deep feelings of his music. A wonderful CD which will be enjoyed for many years to come.

The inevitable question is whether we would pay attention to this music if it had not been written by one of the major poets of the 20th Century. The composer's reputation in this case cannot help but influence our appreciation of his work. I can attest that I would never have purchased this disk if the compositions had been by an otherwise unknown person. Whether they would have been recorded at all is pointless speculation. Certainly the complementary question should be asked: whether Pound's reputation as a poet overshadows his musical compositions to the point of obscuring them, by rendering them mere curiosities.

Certainly no effort has been spared in this recording. The additional price is justified by the enclosed book (it's over 80 pages), which contains articles on how the scores were ... Read More

10.Pop Go the Beatles from: Denon Records

Music : Pop Go the Beatles
Instead of enhancing Beatles classics by incorporating a classical orchestra, all this record does is takes Beatles classics and make them sound like dull, pompous and completely unimaginative.
