I love the music from this movie. It has lots of great violin, cello, and orchestral tracks. The soundtrack feels complete with lots of variety and plenty of listening time. Highly recommend!

I first bought Moulin Rouge 2 soundtrack because I wanted the songs from the movie w/ the actual singers. But there's little of that on this soundtrack. It's a good compliment to the first soundtrack, but my collection still feels very short. Even with both CDs, I am still missing the original versions of the songs, sung by the actors, as they are sung IN the movie. The ones sung by the actors are remixed for the soundtracks, and most of them are not sung by the actors. There are a couple of instrumentals on this CD as well, which personally I don't care for. I bought the CD because I wanted to hear Ewan and Nicole sing, not a bunch of instruments! I wasn't expecting to have 4 discs for this price, and the music is a quality selection of film music, giving a good scope of the genre, and a very listenable transfer.

I do not even remember why I acquired this recording, probably because of a magazine review suggesting an interesting new tenor. Whatever my reason, I must say that I enjoy listening to it. And I do not understand the vitriolic reviews some on this site have given the recording. True--Domingo he is not. But, I have never heard anyone claim that he is. It is amazing to me how many reviewers praised the (talented) amateur Daniel Rodriguez' recordings and how many are panning this one.

I always enjoy Parkening while driving. The songs are all familiar and relaxing, with a few that I have to replay a time or two before I can go on to the next song. Interesting harpsichord guitar combination on one song.

This is a really well-thought-out selection of quieter Baroque, Classical and Romantic works, played primarily on strings but not exclusively. Some of the works are transcribed to other instruments--oboe in the case of a Bach harpsichord concerto, guitar instead of solo cello in the Bouree. This CD includes a lovely, lilting work by Pergolesi, who lived from 1710 to 1736. His wistful and playful music always provokes a happy-sad reaction from me because it's so beautiful and there is of course so little of Pergolesi due to his tragically short life. This is not just a CD to play while you are alone in your bath, as the cover suggests. It's a nice evening wind-down CD and a great Sunday morning brunch album. How someone can refer to Rape of Lucretia and Turn of the Screw (or Midsummer Night's Dream, for that matter, my personal favorite among his many operas) as lesser works of Britten's is beyond me. I guess it is just a matter of taste, but especially in these performances, those who truly love Britten could hardly do wrong. Libretti lacking, but don't let that stop you. You never know when these will go out of print again!

I am a huge Steven King fan and Salem's Lot was one of my favorite favorite favorite books. So, when I heard that TNT was making a movie, I freaked, especially when I found out Rob Lowe was in it. Now, if you are a stickler for movies that follow the book to a T, then Salem's Lot is not for you. But the movie is absolutely wonderful! Majority of this is due to the wonderful music of Lisa Gerrard and Christopher Gordon. Their beautiful yet haunting melodies set the tone for the movie and made it one of the best vampire movies ever made. The Salem's Lot Score soundtrack is an awesome complation of 17 beautiful, haunting, and heart pounding songs, many with haunting vocals. And those of you who are Rob Lowe fans as well, there are exactly 6 pictures (beautiful pictures) of him throughout the cd booklet and case. Over all ... Read More
