I needed a traditional CD of patriotic songs to teach my Girl Scout troop but they wouldn't listen to this one past the first song. It is way to intense. The huge orchestra and the operatic voices,although truly beautiful, will not appeal to a mass audience.

We were disappointed with this CD, but for the price I guess we can't expect much. I didn't care for the new style presentation of the songs. I like a more traditional rendering.

Years ago, I've baught an album (LP) from The Navy Band in Italy. I've never heard US-marches before, but liked them from the start. Now I'm very happy to have this album and two other ones on CD. If you like marches you'll like this CD.

I really enjoy the CD. I heard exerpts from this CD on the radio and that is why I ordered it.

I purchased this CD thinking it would be more or less like the original sound track of the "Victory At Sea" TV series. It falls short in that respect. The music on this CD is of very good quality from a classical point of view but only track 10 called "Victory At Sea" which lasts 11 minutes is what I consider to be true music from the TV series and movie. The rest of the music has a nautical theme but looking at the front label makes you think you are getting all "Victory At Sea" selections. I would not purchase this CD if the sound track music is what you are looking for. If you just want good military band music with a hint of the "Victory at Sea" theme then this would probably be a good buy.

Having played and enjoyed this music all my life, I have never heard it better played. Nothing beats this. I have the Eastman recordings with Fennell and as good as they are, this is better. Buy it and love it. Even a hackneyed piece like Barnum and Bailey sounds entirely fresh. Essential for every collection. If you have room for only CD of band masterpieces, this is it.

HAZEL FLAGG is a curious animal. The show, ' . . . a satire on the manipulation of people, especially the general public," is based on Ben Hecht's screenplay for the 1937 Carole Lombard/Frederick March vehicle, "Nothing Sacred," itself based on a story by James Street. Hecht is also responsible for the musical's book, with lyrics by Bob Hilliard. Jule Styne, fresh from the success of HIGH BUTTON SHOES and GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES, not only wrote the music but acted as the show's producer as well. HAZEL's disappointing 190 performances (compared to over 700 for each of the previous shows) can be blamed on that old Broadway bugaboo: bad book.
