I have long been a fan of Charlie Haden's jazz recordings. This recording is interesting and worth having, although I continue to prefer his jazz work.

If you're thinking that you're going to get an album that is full of songs like "Every Little Kiss", "Mandolin Rain", and "the way it is", like I did. Then you will be let down, Like I was. Those 3 songs have been favorites of mine since they came out, but I just now came around to getting the album. Sadly there is only one more song on the album that is even worth listening to and that's "The Long Race". These for songs have all the great piano work, all the great rythums, all the great vocals, and all the great songwriting. The rest of the album is very much just OK and I don't think a whole lot of thought was put into it. All in all though I payed 2 bucks for my copy and that is definetly worth it for 4 songs that I really like.

Who is Bruce Hornsby? He is an exceptionally gifted prodigy pianist and composer who managed to stay under the radar and entered by a side door in a manner of speaking because he decided to join the rock/popular music scene rather than become a classical concert pianist. Bruce was born 11/23/54 in Virginia and stands at 6 feet 4 inches tall. He went & graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston and the University of Miami School of Music. I enjoy good, energetic bluegrass music. It is not my favorite genre of music, but enjoy it. That being said, this CD is amazing. It's right up there with "Will The Circle Be Unbroken Vol. 2." Congrates to Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby for making a foot-stompin' disc. I love John Anderson's adlibed vocals on Rick James "Super Freak". Give me more.

This Bruce Hornsby set is remarkable not only for the songs, but also for the quality of the recordings, mix of live & studio recordings, the inside photo booklet, DVD, & the variety of styles - solo, with the band, & other artists. This set has been on our stereo, DVD player, & in our cars for months without becoming tiresome. Very highly recommended!!

B. Hornsby did an OK job with this CD. Not what I expected from him.

This is one of the greatest movie scores ever produced. It is Hans Zimmer at his finest. The music is evil and mysterious at times, but still manages to tell its story. Burn It All (track 6) is my personal favorite. I don't see why everybody doesn't like the two tracks by Bruce Hornsby, because I have grown to like them. I would definitally recommend this CD for purchase if you have seen the movie Backdraft or just like instrumental music. 5 stars!

A really great album not to be missed! Superb songs, especially "A Night On the Town," "Across the River," "Another Day," and "These Arms of Mine," which are my four most favorites. I really flipped over "Another Day" when I heard it the second time on DVD. I played this CD for the first time the weekend prior, perhaps not giving it my full attention. I had forgotten the name of the song, so the next Friday evening I watched him perform it on the DVD, "Bruce Hornsby & the Range at Rockpalast," and it was this particular live rendition of "Another Day" that impressed me very much. It got late, I was drousy, I watched the Tonight Show and fell asleep; HOWEVER, I knew I just HAD to find out IN what CD that "treasure" of a song was "burried," and I had to find out FAST. They are good listening, really good music, & lots of fun, and Bruce really lets loose on the keyboard lots of times, but Intersections has a superior collection of live masterpieces. With the exception of maybe two cuts, this is boring. Bruce is a fine talent and very gifted, but the well has run dry. I just can't get into this repetitive piano driven stuff. Nothing insightful like "The Way It Is".
