I have not heard all of Bob Dylan's recordings, but this one has to be his best yet. The maturity in his voice, his intonations and deep felt emotions. I can't decide whether I like Vol.I or Vol.II the best.
If this is Bob in his 60's, look out 70's.

Yawn! Why is this album in such high regard? It's crap. It's just a commercial computer manufactured pile of flaming poo. The guy can't even play guitar! He only knows how to play two chords. I think it's about time someone showed this hack to write music- Fred Durst, perhaps?

Bringing It All Back Home being Dylan's 1965 release and his 5th studio album is without a doubt a grand album. The album is divided into one accoustic and one electric side. Here we have classic tracks such as Mr. Tambourine Man, It's alright ma (I'm only bleeding). The book-let is very nice with a photograph on the cover of Dylan together with some woman. I do not know who it is to be honest. Inside we get poetry penned by Dylan that I find to be very interesting. We also get a plethora of pictures of Dylan recording the album. The back cover photo is a photo of Dylan playing guitar in the studio. 5/5.

I am amazed by people who attempt to stereotype creative genius. Because this album takes on a distinctly different (more ominous, brooding, cutting) mood from the first two albums, they regard it sub-standard! Even in the classic 'Rolling Stone Record Guide' of 1983, the 'critic' failed to appreciate this album, giving it a meagre three stars because he felt its lyrics over-critical and dated. Yet I listen to this album in 2008, 25 years later, and am still moved, and deeply so, by the universality of the subject matter - to say nothing of the music itself. It is, after all, by induction that we generalise from the particular - something that Dylan the bard is brilliant at achieving in his tales. (In just the same way, the critics, and those they influence, miss the boat by regarding 'Live at Budokan' as awful ... Read More

It was with "Freewheelin'", his second album, that Bob Dylan established himself as a great songwriter. Featured are all-time classics like "Blowin' In The Wind", "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" and "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright". But some lesser known gems, such as "Bob Dylan's Dream", are also included. "Masters Of War" is at an anti-war song with Dylan at his most venomous and "Girl From The North Country" is one of his most beautiful romantic ballads.

This is a young, idealistic Dylan playing raw, stripped down folk music. But with witty, perceptive and extremely sardonic lyrics that take it to a whole new level. To see the glorious roots of the best songwriter of the last 50 years there is no better place to start than here.

What can I say except that the man is a genius. After listening to and enjoying the covers on the soundtrack of I'm Not There I was inspired to listen again to the original and was taken on a journey back to my youth.

Blood on the Tracks (1975) may not be Bob Dylan's greatest album, but it is certainly his most perfect. There isn't a single wasted moment on this flawless classic, and as it intently flows from start to finish with scarred passion and fresh acoustic beauty, it presents the listener with a clear image of the isolation, resentment and (sometimes) vindication that Dylan seemed to be experiencing at the time.

I wouldn't exactly call Blood on the Tracks a concept album, but the theme of a relationship that has fallen apart is apparent in nearly every song here. The collapse of Bob's marriage to Sara Lowndes is said to be the inspiration for the album.

One of the things that sets Blood on the Tracks apart from many of Dylan's other albums is the sheer beauty of it's sound. The wonderful melodies and handsome ... Read More

I bought this album a few years ago and I can can still find pleasure in it like no other album. The musicianship, lyrics, and Dylan's singing are like none that no musical artist has yet to duplicate. This would definately be at the top of Dylan's great albums along with Highway 61 Revisited and Blood on the Tracks. Need I say more.

This is an absolutely incredible collection that anyone who even remotely likes Bob Dylan should own. I purchased it brand new and it came in wrapping, but it consistently skips on one song at the same place. I noticed slight gouges in the CD.

Desire came out twelve days shy of a year after "Blood on the Tracks," but it wasn't a whole year without a new Dylan record, because The Basement Tapes came between them, though it was recorded something like eight years earlier. "Desire" is sort of new sound for Dylan as he is performing with the Rolling Thunder Review band and Scarlett Rivera's violin adds a haunting sound throughout.

"Hurricane" the lead off song marks kind of a return of Dylan to social commentary. Dylan did the song, because he was convinced of Mr. Carter's innocence. The song was first recorded with Emmylou Harris doing the vocal with Dylan, like she does on the other songs on the record, but apparently Colombia thought the song was libelous, so Dylan re-recorded it with Ronnie Blakely. I've heard both versions and the one used on the final release is a much ... Read More
