We always play this cd during the evening routine, just right before the baby's falling asleep and he really likes it. The light tunes are really efficient for this purpose. It is a mixture of songs from the big classics like Mozart, Vivaldi, Bach, Debussy. Worth the money!

What a rare treat to hear such a wonderful voice! The music transcends the various languages( Latin, Italian, French, Spanish and almost no English) and communicates directly, beyond intellect, deeper to sooth the soul. This we expect from Opera and Religious selections such as Pucinni's "Nessun Dorma" and Lloyd Webber's "Piu Jesu". A favorite is the solo rendition of "Time To Say Good-bye". Orchestrations are as light and lyric as the voice. Some tracks are found on other CD's and the enclosed photos are a bit risque, but again, the music reaches a much higher plane than most. You won't be disappointed.

Lovely and relaxing music to rock a baby. Even if you don't have a baby to rock it is soothing.

The first time I sampled this, I thought it was a bit 'corny' but I still bought it because of the very many recommendations it received.

I did not regret my decision because after hearing the whole album with my kids, I was just delighted to see them respond to each song so well so much so that after a few days of listening to it, they can already sing the lyrics. Hearing them hum the tunes while playing always brings a smile to my face.

Anything to make kids genuinely appreciate the beauty and finer things in life that many regrettably ignore now, I'm all for it. As with food, kids will lap up whatever their parents introduce to them. So this is good for starters alongside with the Classical Kids series.

Kleiber's account of the 5th stands out because of its precision and speed. Usually these two factors relate inversely and therein lies Kleiber's achievement, I would say, especially considering that this symphony's drama requires an urgency. Karajan's '63 recording is precise and reasonably quick, however it is a rather interpretive account and also pares off some of the space between the strings, bass, and brass. Karajan's '77 recording may be equally interpretive in its conception but nonetheless, in effect, returns to a more traditional sound because the bass and brass are given more volume and space. However, the '77 recording is far from precise, in fact, because Karajan goes for such a textured and broad sound, the orchestral sections somtimes move ahead or behind of each other because ... Just wanted to chime in with many of the other reviewers and say the sound quality on this CD is absolutely horrible. Seriously, it REALLY sucks. At least after reading these reviews I know why it sucks so much. Buy this only if you're a hardcore classical fan who can pick out and appreciate the supposed wonderful nuances of this particular recording. Otherwise see if you can find the "uninspired" remake from the 80s. That one sounds awesome.
