I was a subsribe to Newsweek for over 20 years. Today you could not give me a free subscription. It used to be fair and balanced, now it it the most left of all magazines, more so than Time. They should just fold up the presses and close down. They are worthless. I can make this determination because I watched their decay.

Good magazine for contemporary articles. The poetry is pretty bad. The comics are very funny.

So Mental Floss was a mag that I stumbled upon awhile back in a store and was blown away. This was a magazine that seemed to be tailor-made for me.

I am a huge trivia buff as well as a fan of geeky humor and this magazie incorporated both of these passions as well as a great articles into a nice package. My only dislike is that it only comes out once every two months. I want a new issue every month dangit!

I know it a bit pricey for the subscription for only 6 issues, but if you are into reading, news, and fun facts, this is a great magazine. If you are a fan of "The Intellectual Devotional" books, this is the mag for you.

I like this magazine. It is not bad but I have a big complaint with it. It is and has always been full of filler. I know it is a weekly so they have to put some content in it but it has way too many 'Lists'. They fill an entire magazine with 'The Top 100' this or 'The Top 100' that. And then a legend like Richard Widmark or Dan Fogelberg dies and they give them a tiny picture and a couple of sentences. But since 'Premiere Magazine' stopped publishing it is about all I can get.

Readers Digest offers a little bit of everything for its readers. They have stories that are thrilling, tips on how to go through everyday life (ex- how to sleep better), health tips, an advice collumn, and of course, the jokes. It is a decent magazine that holds ones attention and entertains. The one critisicm I have of this magazine is the ads. There are so many that I have to go through when I get each issue and take all of them out.

For all of the information you receive this magazine is the one. I have had a subscription for many years and the price at Amazon is in the ballpark for a great buy. I had been looking elsewhere for a better price but could not find one.

8.Time (2-year) from: The Time Inc. Magazine Company

Time used to be a lot better; they would spend more time on the pages of the magazine informing people about the news, life and times of our generation and even other generations. They would continue to do follow-up stories more so than they do these days. However, slowly but surely, the magazine has rejected that strategy in favor of more frequent sensationalist front page articles and many more advertisements in the weekly issue.

One thing I do like very much is that once in a while Time devotes the bulk of an issue to a retrospective view of times past. Their person of the year choice is always suspenseful; and I like that issue very much in particular.

Overall, if you want a weekly news magazine, Time is one of those out there to consider. Remember that there'll be more ads ... Read More

10.The Nation from: Nation

Magazines : The Nation

The Nation is a great publication that has featured the works of scholarly writers such as Eric Alterman, Barbara Ehrenreich, Noam Chomsky and Norman Mailer. Though the issues addressed and the opinions expressed are often labeled as leftist, this magazine nonetheless contains some very thought-provoking nuances and propositions for a better America that sound intelligent.

Though many are outraged about some of the stances that the editors and contributors of The Nation have taken, their retorts often fall short of being strong, tangible, clearly expressed responses. From what I see and hear, too many discussions from them center around using diatribes and trying with no success to portray or effectively deconstruct the perceived merits and flaws of this work or the like.
