Good magazine for contemporary articles. The poetry is pretty bad. The comics are very funny.

I frequently change magazine subscriptions just to see what's out there. Harpers, however, is a staple and for the simple reason that its writing is the best and the most varied in terms of length and subject matter. The real measure of its success is that I will wade into articles, memoirs and discussions, whatever the subject, and find I come away with something to talk about with friends instead of an hour spent with teaser paragraphs and no payoff. You know the feeling from coffee table mags where your eyes wind up tired and inside your head a dull tom-tom begins to beat . . . of course, we all know the new yorker is one of the best magazines ever, and i started receiving it within 3 weeks! and i expect i will get my full 2 years of magazines!

Am so pleased with Bookmarks Magazine. I've read it from cover to cover & have a list of "Want to Read" books that were reviewed.

This is my favorite writing resource. Each issue has a great variety of articles. I can always find something useful!

Writer's Digest publishes hands-on, practical articles for writers. Their interviews contain smart tidbits that I can apply quickly, and they don't write down to readers. I like the brevity of their articles too -- busy writers can read an article in five minutes or less. That's my style.

I like Asimov better than ANALOG, but that's kind of like saying that I like strawberry better than chocolate or vanilla. It's a matter of personel tastes. I especially like the new book section. I've ordered one book from it already. Gunner July,2007

This magazine has an excellent section of up to date listing of grants and awards for writers. The only disadvantage, is that it is very focussed on the American writer - a bit more international content would be of interest.
