I came across Clean Eating in a supermarket, I think. I bought the first ever issue and I subscribed shortly after. The positives: there are a range of recipes - both in terms of kinds of food and levels of cooking experience. One thing I usually dislike about "healthy eating" magazines is that they are too simplistic. the other articles are interested and relative. good product suggestions. The cons: It's only a quarterly! Seriously, thus far, that's the only thing I can find that is a negative. If you're at all interested in healthy eating, or even just expanding your food horizons a little bit, check this out.

My biggest complaint with this magazine is that it doesn't come often enough. While yes, certainly catered to a more scientifically aware, intelligent crowd, SEED by no means approaches the drudgery of a scientific journal. In each issues is even a thick, tear-out "cribsheet" on basic scientific issues or concepts from global warming and photosynthesis to string theory. One of the defining characteristics of this magazine that make it so enjoyable is the visual content. Just as much as what's embodied in its articles, these full page photo essay spreads from places like Antarctica or the Nobel prize ceremony offer a rare, beautiful glimpse at those who are working for progress and innovation. This makes reading easier as I learn the language. It is full of interesting stories I like to read. Very well written!

I stumbled upon this Tome a while back and was very taken with it. Not only are the layouts fabulous but the writers add just a touch of humour to the articles. One of the things I have drawn from the issues is their use of color. I have been able to really track my own preferences from the photos and add them to my storyboard inspiration. Further, the articles are fun and informative, I actually READ them through. WOI manages to be incredibly informational as well as fun. I love finding the "Wink Wink" bits scattered throughout. I have in-fact, actually contacted some of their featured designers and been very pleased with the results. The magazine may seem unrealistic at first but it is actually very obtainable. I too recently subscribed to BBC History Magazine through Amazon and had no problems. It's a colorful magazine full of interesting and lively articles and stimulating ideas. Indirectly, I also see BBC History Magazine as a kind of travel magazine. There are lots of historical places I want to check out after reading a few issues. Highly recommended!

Please understand, this isn't a catalog of patterns you can order, the patterns are IN the MAGAZINE! There's a thick paper section in the middle that has the patterns printed on it. They are printed over top of each other in different colors and you have to trace them, plus they do NOT have seam allowances, you have to add those, but they are right there, multisized, and in different size ranges. I have subscribed for many years, and now whenever I want to make something, I snuggle up in my rocking chair with a pile of Burda magazines, find what I want, and start. I made a skirt for my daughter when she was a teenager - let her pick a picture, compared her measurements to the pattern measurements, traced one size for the waist, another for the hips, cut and sewed, and it fit. If you can understand written French, this magazine is chock full of great craft ideas and most of them have the directions for them at the back of the magazine. There are ideas for decorating the home, for recycling items,but most of all, the craft ideas are the very best.

I've previously subscribed to Scientific American and Discover and this magazine is now my favorite of the three. The articles are not as long as SciAm, but they go into enough detail to satisfy. I also really enjoy the science briefs and reviews sections. Another advantage of this magazine is that it is weekly, so it stays topical. It's also nice to get an "outside" point of view on some topics from this British magazine.
