The magazine is great, so I jumped at the offer to get it at 50% off from Amazon. I find it a bit deceptive, however, that this is the normal price for an annual subscription (check their website at www.dwell.com).

Why waste the time fooling your customers...who I expect are generally smarter shoppers. Thanks, but no thanks, Amazon.

I ordered this for my grandchildren. They all enjoy looking at it. My 2 1/2 year old grandsons both like it, too. It is a great magazine for any animal lover. I want to teach them the importance of animals and to work to protect them. If we all start when they are small, they will grow up with that love.

Real Simple is an appropriate name for this magazine. It offers time saving tips and easy decorating ideas for people who don't have the time or the funds to embark on complicated projects. I subscribe to quite a few magazines so wasn't in the market for one more until a sample of Real Simple arrived in the mail.

From seasonal crafts, sick days, and parenting tips for various child issues "Family Fun" offers it all! The ideas are fairly inexpensive, and typically easy to follow. Some activities require more adult input than others! This is a hands on magazine, where parents oversee the suggested ideas. Though kids may like the colored closeups of activities.
It has a good mix for kids of all ages. I haven't come across any babyish crafts, though somewhat tailored to youngsters. Anyone could create these works, with pride.
Birthday parties and holiday celebrations are always a challenge. This magazine gives parents the confidence to pull off a hit, to amaze tots to the parents bringing them. Be it the creative display of eats to decorations it is covered here.

I ordered subscriptions to both Bon Appetit and to Gourmet. I like this magazine much better! It has recipes more suited to my tastes and level of cooking. The pictures are beautiful and appetizing to gaze at, and the recipes are easy to follow.

I can't really review this, since I have yet to receive a copy! What's up with that, Amazon?

By the way, I wouldn't give even one star, but it's necessary to get me past the opening screen.

Gourmet- it's the food magazine that you don't want to be seen reading. It's precious, pedantic, and short on prose. The energy that came with editor Ruth Reichl was palpable a few years ago. Heads rolled, and after a few surprises , it has now settled into horribly written articles, pious editorials, unappealing recipes and a virtual altar for foodies. It is not relevant or interesting except to a very narrowly focused group of food intelligentsia. If a magazine is not capable of surprising you, teaching you, or exposing you to the world we live in, what's the point? If someone reads Gourmet fifty years from now, they will have no idea of what kind of culture we live in. Fear and hatred of food, smart foods, packaged dinners, frozen food, unaffordable food...the list goes on. Gourmet is in a bubble of their own making. ... Read More
