As any magazine that is dependend on advertisements, do not expect too critical articles. Reviews of products usually start with a description that comes straight from the product flyer including all kinds of bold claims. But the reviews themselves seem to be more neutral as compared to some other popular photography magazines. There are of course many pages of advertisements from the various small and large retailers. Personally I think that is great, as I see it as information (what is on the market, etc). However if you see it as something distracting I'd advise to buy a couple of issues at the supermarket before commiting to a subscription (then again, a year subscription costs about as much as 3 single issues so who cares?) Wow. I subscribed to this one and Shutterbug. This one is packed full of tips, techniques and ideas that even a beginner can use. So far I like it a bit better than Shutterbug. But together they make a great arsenal for learning digital photography. I look forward to more issues of PopPhoto.

What a load - my subscription ran out and I get a notice from a collection agency threatening me if I didn't pay them for a subscription I didn't renew. This a month after my previous subscription expired. Werner publishing, also the publishers of Digital Photo Pro, PC photo and numerous other useless golf and video rags, seem to think this is the way to build customers. If you're tired of big companies messing with you, don't bother with this magazine. Even if it was free, it is little more than a glossy shill for the advertisers who pay to advertise. For a fun game, try and find one negative review of a product from an advertiser that has a full page ad in the same issue. Good luck!

I recieved PCPhoto about 6 weeks after ordering. I really liked the price compared to news stand prices I'd been paying. I am a hobby photo user and have had 7 digital cameras. This magizine had many articles and several how to stories in it. I have learned a lot about digital photography from PCPhoto and enjoy the balance of articles and the way they are written. Worth every penny.

Photo Techniques Magazine can help serious photgraphers hone their craft, with extensive tutorials on shooting, printing, Photoshop, scanning, and other topics. It's invaluable for both film and digital photographers. Film photographers will treasure this publication because it's one of the few that still provides tips on traditional film photography and darkroom work, even with medium format and large format cameras. Where else will you find artciles about toning? This publication deserves your support. Once it's gone, it's unlikely we'll see anything like it again.

I purchased a gift subscription online last October, 2007, but it is April 2008, and my aunt and uncle have yet to receive their issue. I called the DPP subscription department in January, and they said they had no record of my order. Funny, since I had a printed confirmation in my files...Anyway, I went through the ordering process (again) over the telephone, and that was supposed to take care of it. Fast-forward to April, 2008, and still no issues had been delivered! I called customer service and the rep said that "the late date" (meaning the latest date of arrival) was end of March.
