This is a very helpful personal finance magazine...It is very precise in its delivery with a wealth of content.

I felt that smart money was a little too dumbed down. I was looking for a personal finance magazine that strongly backed their suggestions with well thought out, detailed, explanations. I choose Kiplinger's over SmartMoney after reading both for a year.

Uhg. Can you imagine taking a college class at Berkeley on how to operate a cement mixer or chainsaw? That's kind of how this magazine feels. A lot of non-Entrepreneurs in a little publishing outfit trying to tell you about all these "trendy" things. Which cell phones are hot? How much should you spend on a haircut? Come on, let's get real. This magazine is a joke.

Don't get me wrong. I love the Economist. It's a very well written, objective publication. I would recomend it highly for those people who want to get great coverage on global news but are tired of the left-leaning/pesimistic news from the hometown newspaper. My problem is that I have never received one single copy from this subscription with Amazon. In fact, this is the 2nd time (out of 2) that I have been snubbed on a magazine subscription. My advise would be to bypass Amazon and go straight to the publication. There seems to be a disconnect between Amazon and certain publications.

After subscribing to Fortune for years, I now only read Forbes. While Fortune offered great articles, most were very wordy. With little time to devote to reading, Forbes articles are to the point, well written, and offer a similar content (read take-away) as Fortune. If time were not a factor, I would read both. Forbes provides a different "flavor" than the other periodicals available.
