Every now and again, I'll get suckered back into subscribing for this mag. I'm an avid outdoorsman who has climbed about 15 of NY's highest peaks. Although I don't do much backpacking anymore due to a ruptured disk and age, I still enjoy reading about places to go and the latest gear. Well, this magazine used to do that for me. Now it is a watered down version of the old rag.

What irked me the most though is being fed one sided environmental claptrap and political commentary. The people behind this magazine and mags like Outside don't believe there are conservatives who love and care for the outdoors. I don't care for the high browed attitudes espoused by many on the outdoor community. If I wanted that kind of commentary, I'll read "insert liberal magazine here". I want to read ... Read More

A bit too oriented towards certain viewpoints, but worth a try at the cut rate offered in GoldBox. May not renew unless rate is superb.

Sometimes the small gardener, the home gardener needs some help. This magazine provides easy to understand how-to's and good reviews and information on planting and nurturing plants depending on area, weather, etc.

I would highly recommend it!

This is a great magazine for someone who wants to know more in detail about specific topics in gardening. As a chairperson for a homeowners association I always want to learn more. Very informative without being too wordy. Lots of nice pictures.

I was very excited to subscribe to this magazine. I thought, "wow a magazine for a novice like myself". Yet I found it boring and not very helpful. I can find the same information on the web by using a search engine.

I've been receiving this magazine for 6 years. It's the only one I read cover to cover. Excellent climbing area reviews, perspective on issues effecting climbers and the environment, humor, and tons of high quality photos. I would recommend this magazine to anyone interested in any/all aspects of climbing.

If they made a television station with nothing but commercials, it would be like this magazine. Had the publisher been more forthcoming, they would have entitled it "RV Reviews" or something of that nature. There is little in this magazine having to do with actual camping. It's almost exclusively RV articles. I'm not opposed to RV camping (I rather enjoy RV'ing too) but I was under the impression that it covered tent camping as well. It does precious little of that! The most unacceptable portion of the magazine is the fact that it's just pages and pages of ads for RV's and RV-related items. I wouldn't even recommend this to an RV owner as there just really aren't all that many articles here. The few articles they have are pretty good, but not great. Look elsewhere for a good camping magazine.
