We bought a house that is 56 years old and got stuck somewhere in the 70's, this is helping to give fresh ideas to fix up the house. Since we are ripping everything out and starting with a blank palette is helps to see modern designs and take from them. So if you need to redecorate or remodel this is a great magazine for inspiration!

There isn't much writing in this magazine. Save your money. There are a lot of ads (the pics are nice for ideas), but the magazine doesn't give you much information at all. I wish I had not subscribed and will not be renewing. I do like Domino, if you are looking for a great alternative.

For many years, I've subscribed to Architectural Digest. This magazine has provided me with a visual buffet of extraordinary homes and landmark buildings from around the world. Four years ago, while planning the interiors of a home I was building, one of the best resources for design came from the pages of Architectural Digest. Despite the magazine's inclusion of expensive, high end interiors, I was able to draw many ideas from the magazine for my limited budget. In the past, I've paid the subscription price directly to the magazine's corporate billing address. I stumbled upon this Tome a while back and was very taken with it. Not only are the layouts fabulous but the writers add just a touch of humour to the articles. One of the things I have drawn from the issues is their use of color. I have been able to really track my own preferences from the photos and add them to my storyboard inspiration. Further, the articles are fun and informative, I actually READ them through. WOI manages to be incredibly informational as well as fun. I love finding the "Wink Wink" bits scattered throughout. I have in-fact, actually contacted some of their featured designers and been very pleased with the results. The magazine may seem unrealistic at first but it is actually very obtainable. I absolutely adore Elle Decoration - as several other reviewers have noted, unfortunately, the American version can't compare. The spaces are gorgeous, and infinitely more imaginative and vivacious. All of my American magazines (with the exception of Interior Design) get ripped apart, with a few pages pulled out and the rest tossed - Elle Decoration always gets saved in its entirety. I highly recommend - these magazines are eye candy, and they are truly worth the extra cost of an import.
