After a while of making scrapbook pages, you sometimes have a mind block and need new idea. The how-to information is great. Love to look through it for new ideas and tools. I don't copy the entire pages, for instance I noticed that one illustrated page had cut along the pattern of the paper and made a cute border. Someone wanted to know what to do with left over letters that didn't spell a word. They made a cute bottom border with them overlapping each other.

A lot of the reviewers here have mentioned problems with one cover story. Don't let that put you off this mag. It and its sister mag MAKE are great. They show a different look at the craft industry than you get when you look in chains like Michaels and Hobby Lobby. Craft and diy are huge and it's not all about scrapbooking and decorative painting. There are heaps of indi crafters doing great things and who, until now, have been largely hidden from mainstream consumers. CRAFT gives these people a platform to showcase their stuff - and it is great - the only pity of it is that in publicising these new takes on old crafts indi is now becoming mainstream! Go figure. Cloth Paper Scissors is a beautiful full color magazine that can inspire and excite an individual to create their own works of art. The magazine is published six times per year, and covers a wide range of doable projects for mixed media enthusiasts. The January/February 2008 issue included projects with scrap wood and paint, the joys of blogging, how to paint an art apron, and painting a gouache resist gelatin print. The samples are professional and artistic, and a stong goal to strive for in your art work. Enjoyable to look at and read!

I like the magazine, except for all the prefabricated items required, and the number of projects which absolutely require a particular rubber stamp to complete. I'm not into rubber stamping. It's a good magazine for inspiration, just not a whole lot of "do it this way" ideas because I don't have access to many of the products. Warning: If you want any of their special publications, order them from a trustworthy site like Amazon, if they carry them. Never seeing the special pubs. in this small town, I happily went to the mag's website to order 4 of them. May 24th I ordered, and they charged my credit card right then. This magazine is all about card making; with fun ideas, samples and suggestions. The July 2008 issue boasts "103 hot projects for summer card making!" The cover also announces an article about "Cards gone Wild!", Ink Essentials, Celebrate Summer!", and Postcards that rule. Feature articles in the July issue also included: "Card Calendars", "Stars and Stripes Forever", "Summertime Fun" and "Christmas in July." The articles and samples with were charming and fun. The work is lighthearted and despite the abundance of exclamation marks, the magazine doesn't go over the top on the topics covered. My favorite ongoing column is "Readers Reach Out".
