I've loved this magazine for years. One could say that it's become more "glossy" over time--more for the general reader than a specialist. Which is perfect. No one will mistake it for a trade publication, but the fact is it gives fantastic, broad coverage to the entire world, including fascinating articles I would never have heard about because they are outside my main area of study. The amount of info on a story is perfect, and each article makes it easy to track down further info when you want it. Highly recommended.

Dig takes a subject that could be dull and transforms it into something fun, exciting, and easy to relate to. Well-researched and -written articles by people who are actually *doing* archeology expose kids to fascinating subjects month after month. Activities, photos, and maps keep each issue visually interesting. Megaliths, Bog People, and Disasters are just a few of the themes Dig explores. This is a great magazine for curious, bright, and clever kids who want to know more about Dig-ging stuff up!

In contrast to another reviewer's comment, I believe this magazine should be entitled, "Archaeology with an Axe To Grind." Helooo? To quote, "great white race exterminated by Native Americans"? As an archeologist who has worked on Prehistoric and Historic sites and has viewed the sort of material evidence casually tossed aside in favor of wild theories and ultimately racist assumptions by the writers (perpetrators) of this periodical,I am sorry to have ever supported this rag through the purchase of a single issue. My suggestion to any interested in archaeology, the pre-history of the Americas, Native American and other ethnic groups and the settlement of the Americas is to read something from "American Antiquity", published by the Society for American Archeology. There at least you will ... Read More

Turkey is at once one of the oldest inhabited areas and the most progressive Muslim country in the world (the only one which separates mosque and state). It also contains the northern part of the Holy Land. Cornucopia presents all this: readers can find stories about archeologists trying to preserve ancient ruins from waters created by dams, historic peoples and their customs, rose culture for perfume oils, glorious mountains and gardens, historic homes, palaces, villages, and nomadic people. This is Turkey, lovingly presented in a beautifully designed, photographed, and intelligently written English language magazine.
