I've been subscribing to SciAm Mind for about a year now and have been reading it at the bookstore for a couple of years. I'm a layperson, no medical training or professional background in dealing with these topics, I just have a personal interest. While I enjoy a good bit of the magazine, I typically find myself frustrated at how it seems as though they only have a few people submitting articles. Unfortunately I don't have a copy on hand, but there's one guy (?) with a name that's about a mile long, and by the time I've finished the magazine, I'm sick of seeing his name and reading his often less-than-thrilling diatribes. Psychology Today is a great magazine. Even my sister, a clinical psychologist, agrees - a woman who isn't too interested in spirituality but quite enjoys provocative views and sharp comments.

I had never heard of this magazine before, but I picked up an issue recently, thinking it looked like a lot of fun. Ha! I could not make it through a single article...the writing was horrible! Maybe it's my fault that I can't lower myself to be able to read that level of writing, but it was so ridiculous that I put it back after giving up on several articles. I think the magazine has the right idea, but it is so poorly executed that I was almost embarrassed to be seen holding it. It does have a catchy cover, but unfortunately that's the only redeeming quality I managed to find.
