Ordered Ranger Rick as Christmas 2008 gift. Gift card was delivered but magazines never came. When I inquired, I was told that the order had gone out. It's been a year and no Ranger Rick. Also multiple gift orders for Cricket were never delivered. Don't buy subscriptions here, go to the magazine's own web site. I will never buy here again.

We've been subscribing to this and Wild Animal Baby for about a year now. My son is currently 3yrs old, and I have to read this magazine to him. However, he loves it! The pictures are very detailed and many are close-ups, so it gives my son the opportunity to see familiar zoo animals from a different perspective. I appreciate how they include pictures and information about their natural habitats. For instance, my son enjoyed the issue that showed all the different things that ants can do. Before that article, he thought ants were just insects that try to crawl on you. The articles are written in a simple style, but I think that makes it easier fo the children to remember what they've learned about all the different animals in each issue. Read More

I have the Dec. Issue (awesome!). I has a cute seal poster and how to make these little polar bears and penguins that taste like peppermint. There is also a mealtime quiz and is really fun. I like it a lot.

I love reading and doing the games/puzzles with my 5 and 7 year old. The games actually build spatial and reasoning skills in a non stressful way.

5.Discovery Girls - a Magazine for Girls Ages 8 & Up from: Discovery Girls

This magazine really is perfect. It features real everyday girls, showing that girls really can do anything. Many people say that it isn't appropriate for an 8 or 9 year old, and not all of it is. But, there are several parts that really would be nice for those younger girls. If you were a parent of a younger girl who was interested in DG (Discovery Girls) I would suggest briefly looking through it before you would give it to her. But, once a girl is about 10 or 11 and they're mature enough it is quite perfect. DG mostly covers advice about growing up and all of the things that come along with it. If you are looking for crafts and recipes it might not be the best magazine for you. The American Girl Magazine might be better. But, the only downside of American Girl is that it doesn't ... Fantastic magazine. But buy it directly from the publisher. The subscription price is exactly what amazon is offering, anyway, and you'll get it a lot faster. We also bought two sets of a year's worth from eBay.

I saw an issue of this magazine at the Louisville Science Museum yesterday when Isaiah, who is six, and I spent a rainy day exploring science and inventions. I don't remember what topic the issue covered, but the magazine's focus on science interested Isaiah so I thought about getting him a subscription for Christmas. Of course, as soon as I came home, I went immediately to Amazon's site to hear what other parents thought about it. I was shocked at the number of one-star reviews and clicked on that link in order to see what the problem was. I now know about the heavy-handed collection tactics and apparently deceptive subscription techniques. I have NO interest in becoming ensnared in anything like that. I was happy to learn that the magazine contains puzzles and other activities which make it a good learning experience. This is the first magazine to captivate my granddaughter.

I have been ordering Zoobooks for several years for my grandson. He loves them. When we go for hikes on our city trails or to the zoo, he is always giving me information that he learned in Zobooks on the animals we see. I am fascinated with all the knowledge he has gained from Zoobooks.
