I stumbled upon this Tome a while back and was very taken with it. Not only are the layouts fabulous but the writers add just a touch of humour to the articles. One of the things I have drawn from the issues is their use of color. I have been able to really track my own preferences from the photos and add them to my storyboard inspiration. Further, the articles are fun and informative, I actually READ them through. WOI manages to be incredibly informational as well as fun. I love finding the "Wink Wink" bits scattered throughout. While it's the best of it's kind, it's not without it's short-comings: it's academic editorial style and focus on the artifact side of communication arts.

We live in Texas, so I thought this magazine would inspire some Texas adventures. While the magazine is great, be prepared to wait a long time to get this after you order. I ordered in mid-April and actually got the first issue in mid-July and that was the August issue. In this day and age of technology, why does it take so long to get a magazine out? I know they say 6-10 weeks but that IS a very long time. They need to stream line these orders. If you are into instant gratification, get your copy monthly at the store.

I love the magazine... but unfortunately had to cancel my subscription because Synapse Inc. (the company that is shipping arch-record through amazon) is incompetent. The magazine arrived badly damaged (they don't wrap it in plastic when they ship it); to be honest, the injuries to the magazine looked so bad that I suspect it was shipped that way. I was incredibly disappointed and tried to contact Synapse to ask for a new magazine... the only problem is that you can not talk to a live person at Synapse. They have an automated customer service hot line with cleverly-worded questions that make it impossible to get satisfaction. Their website offers no other emails or phone number to contact for help. I continue to be impressed with this journal and it's one of the very few that I read entirely. While I don't provide direct patient care today, it helps me stay current with the complex patient conditions and political issues facing nurses. "Politics " is not a 4-letter word - it's vital if nursing is to maintain its role in assuring patient/family safety and quality. As for resources like Nursing Made Incredibly Easy, they possibly have a role for the very basic novice or the layperson. But just as I do not want my neurosurgeon to base his practice on Neurosurgery Made Incredibly Easy, so too do I not want nurses caring for me and my family to base their practice on Nursing Made Incredibly Easy. I am almost finished with the LPN program and I found this magazine very useful and helpful. Its another tool to learn more about diseases, nursing, and helps make classroom information more familiar. The only downside is that it does take an extremly long time for the magazine to come (more than the 6-8wks of other magazines I have ordered) and they do send alot of past issues and then send a renew notice. It is an attractive magazine, the pictures and illustrations are helpful and interesting to look at. So I would reccomend it to anyone in school :)

Because I find the TV series Ghost Hunters a fascinating television series (I have purchased all of the DVSs), I subscribed to TAPS magazine, expecting the magazine to focus on the scientific investigation of ghosts and the paranormal topics relevant to the specific episodes of the TV series. Instead, I discovered that the magazine focused less on Ghost Hunters and more on a conglomeration of folklore and unrelated paranormal topics that had nothing to do with the program. I stopped the subscription after one year. I'll just stick to the DVDs. If I want information on other paranormal topics, I'll look them up for free on the internet.

It provides those interested in fine art with examples of work currently being created by artist from different counties and ethnic groups. Articles not only highlight results of open competitions, but also demonstrations by practicing artists.

As an elementary art teacher, this is a great resource! Not only are there many, many ideas for all age groups (many are very adaptable with a little creativity) it is a great source for new products. The clip cards are wonderful and I especially love the new Famous Artist cards - giving a short bio of each artist in a card format. I keep all my clip cards organized in a file box and it has grown to be a fantastic place to look for new ideas no matter what grade I am teaching this week. I look forward to every issue. This magazine is a great inspirational tool!
