Purchased opener for basic home use. It lasted all of 2 months! The mechanism which enables you pull out cork failed and when I turned the unit upside down a piece fell out. Needless to say, we are very disappointed and trying to get a refund now. When it worked, husband and I found the opener very easy to use. The foil cutter was fairly useless on bottles with larger top rims, but we have a nice cutter so that didn't bother us too much.

I have used a CorkPops Bottle Opener for 10 years and this is my second re-order of refills. I do find that it takes more gas to "pop" synthetic material corks and, as more and more companies use these corks, my gas usage will go up. I received the refill gas cartridges from CorkPops four days after I placed the order.

I've been drinking and saving partial bottles of wine for years with this stuff. I've played with those wine vacuum pumps in the store, and I can tell you from experience using vacuum bells in engineering labs, that there is no way those little pumps and seals could remove enough atmosphere to make a substantial impact in lowering wine oxidation. As for the amount of gas in the bottles, I usually purchase Private Preserve by the case, in an unopened box, and I've never had an issue. I can usually get at about 100 uses from a can. I think the instructions on the back are over-simplified; when the bottle is brand new and the pressure is high, you have to cut the amount of spraying time at least in half, if not more. I purchased this opener thru Amazon.com and upon its very first use it broke. Normally I would return a broken product but with today's postal rates, it will cost me close to the purchase price to return it. I unpacked this little beauty, charged it, placed it on the exposed cork and pushed the button. It extracts the cork out with no problem. Push the other side of the button and it ejects the cork. First, you must listen to all those reviews that have a 1-star rating. This product really doesn't work. I have a very hard time reconciling those reviews with high star ratings based on my experience, which mirrors that of those who say this doesn't cool. Let's think about this - you enter a bottle into a metal-rimmed bucked which does not adjust it's size. Thus, the bucket must be large enough to accomodate all sorts of bottles and is always larger than your specific wine bottle. There is never a 'fit' - only about 10% of the glass of the wine bottle is actually touching something that is cool. How would you expect this mechanism to work?! This is my second purchase of these glasses. I broke 2 of the first 4 while handwashing. Now I have 6. I still like them though. They are a nice size, good value and perfect for Pinot Noir. My advice would be to hand wash gently.

Nice idea, poor product. I have had 5 of these fail on me with only a few months use. The lever becomes very stiff. Eventually the linkage inside the stopper breaks rendering the lever useless. OXO customer service sent immediate replacements however all the replacements have failed as well. It's time for OXO to go back to the drawing board on this one!
