I bought one of these mixers fully aware of the fact that I was getting a refurbished unit that may not be perfect. Sure enough after a couple of months of pretty light use the speed control went out on my unit. It didn't matter what power level I set the thing to, the second I turned it on it would ramp up to its top speed and shut itself down after exceeding the normal top speed. So I called up KitchenAid customer support - after hearing my problem and verifying that I was under warranty they sent me out another refurbished unit. Once I got that one I threw the broken one in the box and slapped the return lable on it, and away it went. Extremely painless. Let me say up front that I'm not unhappy with this purchase given my intentions for it and expectations of it - I bought it knowing the disadvantages since I had examined this rack at a store some weeks before. For my purposes, it is ideal. For someone looking for a quality spice rack, not so much. One reason I purchased this rack is because of the size of the jars. You won't feel like you're unable to store an appropriate quantity of spice in each. Personally, I was not interested in or impressed with the quality of the spices. Unlike the excellent Lodge Logic ironware, this is a complete piece of junk. If you apply any pressure, the brush head disengages from the wooden shaft. That's because it's just pressed in and not glued. I made the mistake of buying two of these. That kind-of worked out since my first one melted because my wok was too hot -- Didn't see that coming but it actually worked better once it was melted -- Go figure!

We've been converting our entire cookware/bakeware/utensil collection over to Calphalon. We'd purchased two half-sheet jelly roll pans directly from Calphalon's outlet store some months back, and paid the same for those two pans as we did for this set through Amazon. These pans are heavy. REALLY heavy. We love that - there's nothing worse than taking a pan out of the oven and having it "flex" and dump food, grease, etc. fall off because the food on it weighs more than the pan can handle. You'll never have that problem with these. While most Calphalon products are dishwasher safe, we take the stance that any high-end item like this deserves to be washed and dried by hand with a mild dish soap. I took a chance and ordered the Presto Pro EverSharp Electric Knife Sharpener based on a previous review. I am so glad I did. It is easy to use, directions are easy to follow, and I couldn't beat the price locally. My knives are so sharp now they kind of scare me so I am extra careful when I am cutting anything.

I watched The Shopping Bags one day on Fine Living Network, and they were reviewing oil sprays..and I saw the Misto.. decided to get myself one.. I have not regretted it one little bit. I don't get that funky smell that comes with the Pam and the other baking sprays, and the Misto works great. My husband was not sure about it at first, but he has gotten to where he likes it better than the bought cooking sprays.

Other recommendations prompted the purchase and the thermometer lived up to expectation. The display is easy to read and simple to calibrate. Quickly learned that my refrigerator was not cooling correctly and thus needed a new compressor! (The cheap stick-on refrigerator thermostat that I was using as a monitor turned out to be reading 3 degrees too low.) Having an easy way to check food temps and storage temps has already proved to be a great health benefit. I join the others who highly recommend this fine product.

After purchasing several timers at the local supermarket only to find out that they were defective (alarms didn't work), I ordered this one. At first I thought it too was defective, as no alarm went off, no matter which of the three settings a tried: alarm light, audible alarm and vibrating alarm. Voila! I was about to give up, go back to good old fashioned clock watching, and sometimes overcook something. Then I thought to check the batteries (two of them, AAA). Sure enough, one of them was inserted the wrong way. Upon correction, the three alarm settings work perfectly. This timer is small, yet easy to read (large black numbers).
