I purchased a black scale: Escali Primo Digital scale, 11Lb 5 Kg, 1 ea but any color would be a great choice if you need a super easy, fast reading scale for home use. It has a tare function (to subtract off the weight of a dish or container for example) so you can rapidly weigh what you need. Although likely used by most folks for food or postage, I needed this to weigh my pet birds! I just put a food dish with treats on the scale, tare it, and the little bird will sit there for the 2 seconds it takes to get their weight measured (grams or ounces).

This is a great scale. I have used it a few times and had no problem at all. It has made my life much easier in the kitchen especially when following recipes, since I have tons of cookbooks, some with measurements in pounds and some in grams. I highly recommend it!

I own two of these; one for at home and I keep one at my son's restaurant for when I bake. They are quite accurate and you would be amazed at how inaccurate your measuring cups and spoons are! Did you know that 1 cup of sugar is 7 ounces?! There is a list of foods that are numbered that come with it and all you do is put in a number - 58 is butter or cream - set volume or lbs./ounces/grams and put in your ingredients. You can keep adding more to it by clearing the number, type in the new ingredient number, tare the weight and keep going. This is for liquid or dry and you can do both in the same bowl. I purchased this little scale thinking I could use it to weigh food portions for meals. It is small and compact and travels nicely in the little travel pouch included. That's the good part. The scale itself just wouldn't work correctly to weigh in ounces. I returned the product.

This scale works as advertised and am very satisfied. The scale did not need calibrating out of the box, however you will need a 200g weight to recalibrate, not included.

I have a smaller/cheaper Escali Primo I'm really happy with, but it was getting old so I decided to buy supposedly better, professional model. More expensive - yes. better? not really. what i hate the most is that this scale needs time to "think" before it shows the weight. so if i pour something, i have to do it in intervals. pour a little and wait for the scale, then pour more and wait again. I find it very annoying. but if you need it to weigh items, not liquids, and don't care about the wait, then it is a good scale. The platform is removable, little legs under the scale are adjustable so it can be used on non-horizontal surface. and it looks a bit sturdier then Primo. If it wouldn't be for the delayed response I'd give it 5 stars
