As with most custom water filters, this one is expensive. Basically, it's the same marketing strategy as for printer cartridges. The printer is cheap; the ink will kill you.

Product visibly looks good outside, but there was still a metal base inside the unit; opening was relatively small making it difficult to clean. Appearance of unit did not exude quality; electric cord while short for safety reasons seemed oversized for the unit, and somewhat inflexible. Similar product(s) sold in Asia, are of better quality and construction. I'll continue to use the old style all glass Pyrex unit to boil water for tea.

I bought this as a replacement for an electric kettle that I had for about 7 years which had one day stopped working. And now after 6 months this one has sprung a leak, do I bother to look for the warranty? Doubt it. I'll just go down to my local big box retailer and get a cheap replacement and hope it lasts longer then 6 months.

This is a great coffee maker for the price. It is nice to have the built in gold filter that can be washed and reused. Other reviews have complained that the coffee brews too fast, but that is one of the benefits! I'm glad I selected this coffeemaker.

First off, I love the Tassimo system. Very easy to use and a broad range of choices as far as beverages. I just wish they gave you a true sampler pack, as there are a lot of different vendors and flavors within a brand. I purchased a bunch of different discs and like the Gevalia Latte and Chai Latte. I would match the Chai Latte with anything out on the market, including Starbucks. Put some whipping creme on top, wonderful. Ok, with that being said, get the BOSCH system from Tassimo, not this one. The BOSCH system is much quieter, much cleaner, not as messy and a lot easier to use. I had a hard time deciding what thermal coffeemaker to buy after reading the reviews. This was a great purchase. I agree with some other reviewers that the water fill line is on the wrong side but that is because of my kitchen layout. I also stopped using the gold filter because I was ending up with particles/sludge at the bottom of my cup. Paper filter, problem solved. I also like that it is compact in size yet holds as much as my old super tall coffeemaker.

This coffeemaker has so much potential, but makes rather watery coffee. It looks better than most coffeemakers out there and has fewer bells and whistles that tend to break with use anyway, and after reading the reviews I thought it would be good for my purposes- but not so. The plastic is made of inferior quality compared to my old Salton and I'm just hoping that I won't have to repurchase next year, but I've seen this kind of flimsy plastic in other products that break too easily or don't hold up to higher temperatures. When the coffee is brewing dribbles appear at the bottom joint where the swing basket sits and they drip down the side. This has never happened before in all the years I've been making coffee. We've had this carafe on our Braun coffemaker for years, and finally broke it in the sink while trying to balance a toddler and the morning coffee routine. This replacement carafe was pretty much an exact replacement. I didn't find, as other reviewers had mentioned, the glass to be any thinner than the original. If anything, this one felt a little more secure than our original, specifically the handle attachment to the carafe.
