Pyrex is nice...you can put them in the dishwasher, microwave, freezer, etc. I bought two sets of these because 14 pieces counts the lids, so you end up with only 7 dishes. I gave four stars because they chip easily...before I used a single dish, one chipped on me as I was putting it away. I am waiting to see if I have any other chipping problems. Overall, these things are great. I highly recommend using these over plastic food containers!

We have small garden and wanted different way than freezing to save our harvest. Nothing large scale so didn't need one of the expensive fancy ones. So far have canned number of fruits, beans and peas. It works as designed. Have no complaints.

I bought this pan after reading a recommendation for it on someone's blog. I don't regret making this purchase, even though it took a little more organisation from England. I only regret not buying two pans. The brownies come up beautifully. I can highly recommend the marbled brownies (brownie with cheesecake topping) that come as one of the suggested recipes in the packaging.

Pros: No non-stick, easy to clean, can cook just about anything it it. It was less expensive than I could find anywhere else by about $20 and it came with free shipping. You can use to cook in kitchen and camping. Cons: It's quite heavy (duh--it's cast iron) and I'm a pretty strong male. I was able to reduce number of pots I used to cook due to it's size. You could probably cook chili in it -- it is large enough. I wanted something I could use for both in the kitchen and camping. I think if I was just looking for something in the kitchen, I would have goon with stainless steel. Of course you pay a lot more for good stainless steel.

I am brand new at canning, and did my first batch prior to ordering these tools. It went okay, but I was immediately sold on the idea of a jar lifter. I looked and looked locally but couldn't find one, and this set was available for immediate shipment. The jar lifter is fantastic, and ultimately I think it alone is worth the price of admission -- not because it's worth it in and of itself, but because it's a total necessity, so I would have purchased it at any price that wouldn't break the bank. The other pieces are either already part of a moderately well-equipped kitchen, are nice but not necessary, and/or are not all that well constructed. I bought this is January 2007. The mat keeps going strong and I give it a 5-star review because: 1. Everything -- pizza, cookies, biscuits -- slides right off the mat after baking. 2. This is very easy to clean. 3. I'm baking more at home and buying less ready-made foods, helping me reduce my monthly food budget.

I've had great luck with a lodge dutch over and stove top grill/griddle. In a recent move I somehow managed to misplace my grandmothers old cast iron pan. I was a bit sad about not have that pan anymore but didn't think of it as anything more than a lost memory. How wrong I was. By comparison this thing is junk. It is significantly thinner and has a very short handle. This is not to say it's a bad pan - it's just not up to the old stuff. I'm not going to return it, in fact I'll use it without complaint. I am, however, going to keep my eye open for something more substantial. In retrospect I should have ordered a 12" pan. I'm not sure why but 10" of cast iron just looks small.

I bought one of these for myself and was surprised at how well it actually worked! I use it often and have since gotten several more as gifts for friends and family. Everyone loves it. It is much quicker than setting a pot to boiling and then cooking the pasta and it uses much less water. Both of those are important where I live(in the SW at relatively high altitude) where water boils much more slowly and water is not to be wasted! It is also easier and safe when draining the cooked pasta. One thing to be aware of: when I initially purchased it I had an older microwave and HIGH worked fine with the Fasta Pasta. However, I now have a new microwave which has more power, so it is necessary to use about half power with the Fasta Pasta. A simple, useful tool in the kitchen.
