Having used a Braun shaver for several years, I was looking to the newer Pulsonic shaver last year. Unfortunately, I found myself having to work twice as hard to get a good shave. I thought maybe the problem was with the cutting blades, so I ordered a new foil and cutterblock. After a few weeks of use, I don't see an enormous improvement. I still have to work harder and longer than my original Braun. Even then, my 5 o'clock shadow seems to be arriving more like 2 o'clock.

The electric razor works much better with the new parts. I could not find these particular replacement parts in the local stores and I did not want to have to buy a new electric razor.

The shaver is not only loud, but it's very bad in shaving too. One does not feel 100% safe in using it. Sometimes when it pulls hair off your skin forcefully, one feels doesn't get a safe feeling about it. It's not easy to use. I followed the directions as written in the user manual, but it still does not shave well. Even after spending lot of time, one can find some hair remaining here & there. I've always used electric shavers. Before buying this one, i have used Philips and Norleco shavers earlier. Both of them worked well for me.

I purchased this shaver to replace an older Braun shaver that I had for over 10 years. This 5885 is much faster, the foil seems to collect hairs much better and the charge lasts for several weeks. The only complaint is that the trimmer is awkward to use.

i'm sure it's not that i have a defective one or anything, i just hate this epilator. i'd never tried epilating before, and after researching it, bought this one. i was really excited to use it, but it sucks! i could only ever stand the pain AT ALL using on my underarms, and there it only removes about 1/2 the hairs, even if you spend a long time doing it. DON'T BUY THIS.

I have found the braun Series 5 8995 Men's Shaver to be the best electric shaver I have ever used, far superior to Remington and Norelco. Prior to this purchase I had been using a blade because of dissatisfaction with previous electric shavers. It took about a week to adapt to electric shaving again and I couldn't be happier. I love the cleaning and recharging base. This is a feature no one else offers. It keeps the shaver very clean and automatically maintains optimum battery health. I have been using electric shavers for over 50 years. This is my first Braun. A lot depends on 3 things, facial shape, type of whiskers(fuzz, course etc)and skin type. This shaver is ok for the price. It took me at least twice as long to get a shave that was ALMOST equal to my Norelco. Like I said, it depends on the 3 things above. May return it or let my son try it and see.

Now I am a woman with coarse and thick leg hair. Shaving wouldn't work for me because I'll still have black dots on my fair skin afterward, and waxing often is too much of a pain. my previous epilator was the 5681 model by Braun. It worked pretty well but was rather painful. I saw this model and decided to give it a go. Its smooth - the addition of tweezers make the epilation process less painful. It does included a number of heads for different body parts. I also love the fact that you can charge up the piece and the charge keeps for a fair long time [avg - 40 mins].
