I've never waxed in my entire life and so I was a little scared when I first tried this epilator. I used it on full speed when I tried it and there was a little discomfort but It really wasn't bad at all. I have fine hair so I have to go over the same spot a couple of times but thats fine because you don't need to use it as often as a razor. If you tend to get ingrown hairs all you need to do is exfoliate regularly.

I have been a Norelco man since I started saving. I figured I'd give another high end electric razor a try. Ultimately, I don't think one is necessarily better or worse, but there are trade offs to each. This razor gives a slightly closer shave than a high end Norelco. It's a little more bearable to skip a day between shaves if I need to. The downside to that, though, is that it is a little more irritating to the skin. When I'm done, it feels more like I shaved with a real razor and I want to use a little lotion or aftershave. Be wary of the 7000FC replacment assembly. Much to my dismay, I went to purchase a replacement foil/cutter for my Syncro 7505 and found that Braun has changed the foil to the design used on the 8000-series shavers. The old 7000 foil had a "staggered grid" pattern on smooth metal. The new 7000 foil has the same "overlapping circles" pattern as the 8000-series foil. This is a problem because my experience has shown that the 8000-series foil is exceptionally fragile/weak. This problem results in a hole appearing in the foil within 2-20 weeks after replacement. Just replaced the foil and cutter block that came with my Braun 8975 electric shaver, after almost 14 months of daily use. The foil in the original had some breaks in it. As soon as I used the replacement, I noticed how smooth the shaver felt on my face. The User Guide indicates that the foil/cutter block should be changed after 18 months of use, but I had to do so sooner, perhaps because I press too hard when shaving. If I want a really close shave, I wind up using my Gillette Fusion Power razor. No matter how I twist and turn the Braun, I can't seem to get as smooth a result on my neck, as I do on my face. I do not have to use the razor every day. I would say that my Braun 8975 is the best electric shaver that I ever had and I think that the foil/cutter block have a good deal to to with that conclusion. ... Read More

I was very disappointed that the foil part of the shaver got a hole in it less than two weeks after he replaced it. The last foil he put on lasted around a year.

WORTH the money! Highly recommend ... I'm glad I bought 2 so one stays in the suitcase with NO MESS, the other in the bathroom (with NO MESS). The new top slides 'over' the shaving head which means no more "lost" or "cracked (broken)" tops (and no longer too messy to pack)!

This is a followup to a review I previously posted about this product. It has become obvious that the foil on Braun 8000-series shavers is defective by design and/or manufacture because the foil goes bad WAY too often. I have used Braun 6000 and 7000 series shavers, and never had the bad experience I've had with the 8000-series shaver. I treat all my shavers carefully; nothing but my face, or tissue, touches the head. Here is my experience: Oct 14 purchase a new Braun 8975 Dec 15 hole appears in foil Dec 21 replace foil+cutter (from Braun customer service) Jun 02 hole appears in foil Jun 03 replace foil+cutter Jun 17 hole appears in foil after only 2 weeks! Am a blade man during the week, but on weekends I go electric! Have used older Norelcos and Brauns in the past, none has ever provided as close a shave as this beauty! For the price, I don't think you can go wrong!
