The XEROX Phaser 6130 is a lower priced color laser printer that will satisfy many users that don't have demanding printing needs but would like the benefits of a color laser instead of a color ink jet, or monochrome laser. The printer is described as being "compact". Well I guess that's a relative term... the printer is quite tall at a speck over 15". Depth is around 16" and width is a little over 15". It's boxy. I found the setup on my iMac to be a piece of cake. 20 minutes from box to printing. The quick setup sheet was not particularly helpful since it used some ambiguous graphics to indicate what you were supposed to be doing at each step. I have owned all the previous 5000 Model Series and was happy with them. The ability to have very very low pricing on the ink cartridges was the reason I went to Kodak. I moved up to the ESP 9 Series for one reason - WiFi - and it has worked perfectly without any problems. I have 5 different computers both portable and desktop hooked up to this one printer and they all work without a hitch. The new touch panel on the front of the ESP 9 is very easy to use and the new Black Finish on this model makes to look more professional in the office enviroment. I use the Automatic Paper Feeder most of the time and to date it has worked again without a hitch. I have windows Vista. The description of this product is Vista Certified. I went to the HP website and using their live help feature asked if the P2015 printer worked with Vista. Absolutely they said. They lied. I purchased it and tried to use the CD to load the drivers. The install program would not work. I tried to install the HP software "toolbox". That too does not work with Vista. No where does HP advise purchasers that to use the printer one must download the drivers from their web site NOT the CD. The printer works fine (its okay, not great, maybe a 3) but to have the manufacture simply mislead consumers regarding its use is unforgivable. This printer was very simple to set up and install. The step by step instructions are a no brainer. Print quality is very good. Print speed is adequate for my use. It is slightly noisier than the HP all in one machine I had prior to this one...but the Brother appears to be sturdier. If you are a power user that prints constantly all day I think you may be slightly disappointed in the only adequate speed of this machine. However, if you print less than about 50 pages per day... this machine might be a great fit. The one HUGE advantage is the ink cartridges. Not only are they available from resellers at a fraction of what the HP cartridges cost... This has been the most reliable clearest printer I have ever owned. It is large, but it does handle 16x20 prints wonderfully. I really like the large ink cartridges, they last well. I have never had any fade out at the end of a cartridges the way I had with other printers. For heavy paper, the back feeder works quite well but is hard to get useed to.

We'd installed the software for this printer on some older XP machines. We'd constantly get the 'can't find network' popup even though our network is solid. So I installed it on my new Vista computer and same problem. Annoying but not a total deal breaker. Then I started getting popups saying that smart web printing was having problems. Then every time I tried to navigate a web page the cursor would change and I would not have any control over my computer. So I tried uninstalling smart web printing. That deleted all of the icons on my desktop except for my recycle bin and also deleted all of my quick launch icons. So I did a system restore but that didn't help. This MFC-74220 is my first multi-function printer, although over the years I've owned 2 Brother laser printers before this one. Brother products are less pricey and I just haven't been able to discern a difference in quality between Brother and other brands that may be percieved as higher quality. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this multi-function is twice as nice as my last Brother printer, which I loved! I couldn't be more impressed with this unit. Owned one, then bought two more as gifts! That's how much I like this printer. It works seamlessly and quietly on my desk while sparing workspace, thanks to the intelligent designing. This printer is good enough for personal usage and does not meet the standards for high output work. I feel compelled to comment on the aesthetics. The looks of this printer definitely attracts comments from whoever steps into my office. Highly recommend the product if you care about the details and want your office workspace to look neat!
