I've had this product for quite some time now, and I have to say that I have enjoyed it a lot. The feeling of combining technology and nature makes for a great outdoors experience, and this gadget -while not the best you can find out there- has an excellent adaptability and capacity to add more functionality -like a GPS- which makes for an excellent price/benefit relation. I have to say that using this fish finder I've caught some fish that I couldn't have otherwise. It helps by telling you where is the fish, depth, speed, etc. It wont get the fish for you, but it will give you eyes under the water. Have found fish finder to be user friendly. Easy to read display and easy to attach to boat. Have found setting depth alarm and fish alarm to be very helpful,do not need to be looking at display at all times. Depending on type of boat or dock you may want to invest in next model up for extended transducer depth. Turtles swimming underwater also appear as fish on display.

first off, to be honest i'm a rookie when it comes to fish finders. i followed the instructions to the "t" and i had no problems installing the unit and it required no further adjustments after the test run. it works great, i can't believe the number of fish this thing picks up. i've been in water up to 165feet deep and it has no problem showing fish and what side of the boat they are on along with how deep they are. i gave the unit five stars because it does evrything that the desciption said it would do and i'm happy with it.

Nice color display and functionality. Had a hard time with acquiring signal while in central/southern Alaska if not outdoors with fairly decent clear path to sky. Was better in the Skagway and Ketchikan area. Probably could expect this from most devices... In the lower 48, was very good indoors and in the car. Device is pretty decent to use. I hate an annoying popup on powerup that warns not to use for navigation ?! Maybe someone tried to sue them ? Maybe there is a way to turn off, but have not found it yet. Unfortunately you have to buy the software to build the maps. You have to pick areas, such as US or Canada, etc. SO picked up the US one. Unfortunately, they do not even overlap any into Canada. I have Garmin products on both my boats and all three of my trucks/car. As usual the performance with Garmin is superb. Easy installation required one call to the Garmin Tech Dept. Their Tech Dept. is by far the most caring and concerned Tech people I have ever run into. I have it on my flats boat and ventured out in the ocean on a very calm day. The product gave excellant "coverage" on reading the bottom in water up to 300 feet. Here in South Florida most of my boating/fishing is in shallow salt water. I do fish off it for Bass in Lake lanier, Ga and Deep water lakes in Texas. Performed flawlessly. The vision chart is the icing on the cake. I still can not beleive all it does for navigating and the different views of the bottom. I just refitted my Bertram with two 5208's and Garmin radar. ... Read More
