This is one of the BEST MP3 players out, -especially- for workouts, etc. I say this because it is sooooo easy to use/setup and the SOUND is -outstanding-!!! The iRiver iFP-899 has been an indispensable companion for recording college lectures and meetings. I was looking forward to trying the new E100 because of the larger storage size and display screen. Unfortunately, the E100 is a major disappointment. Numerous web sites detail the poor sound quality, slightly undersized enter button, and other problems. Let me focus on a few seldom discussed issues. Many people report sporadically having the iRiver Plus 3 software not recognizing the E100. The dust cap on the E100's USB connector can interfere with fully inserting the USB cable connector by catching on the dust cap. This is a very nice little MP3 player. It does everything but video and once you play with it, it is easy to use. As I always post, the manufacturers for electronics need to spend a little money and provide a manual. The one sheet that comes with the machine is not enough and if you don't have an affinity for electronics, it makes it hard to use. The FM recording feature is especially nice and it holds a good amount of songs and photos. The photos are a bit small but that was not the reason I purchased this. I wanted to have a small unit that I could put in my pocket. I love the Archos 705 except I can't hear it. Also the fact that you have to pay extra for functionality that should come standard on a video player. I got the unit to play videos for my passengers while traveling in my car. There's an aux in on my car stereo, but when I connect the cable from the headphone out jack on the Archos to the aux in on my stereo, the sound is very very low. Both the car stereo and the Archos are turned up to max but you can barely hear the sound of the videos. Of course everything plays fine on my home equipment, there's nothing wrong with the files. --update-- I got the docking station for the Archos and it has audio outputs on it.
