Blah, blah, blah. It is a hard drive. Interesting note, however, it is noisy. Time to turn on the power saving features that suspend HDs if you want to be able to think over the dull noise.

I've owned this product for several months and would like to say that I hate it and love it, all at the same time. Let me explain. I love that it's 320GB. I love that it doesn't require an extra plug to get it up and running. I love that it's small and portable. HOWEVER, what I hate is that often my computer doesn't recognize it, or that it randomly decides to disconnect and reconnect to my computer (in a virtual sense, not physical). This is particularly annoying when I'm listening to music or moving files around. My solution at this point is to physically disconnect it and connect it until the connection sticks. Back when I thought a 20 meg hard drive was huge, I never imagined that I would fill my 120 gig hard drive on my laptop with video files (often more than 20 meg per file!) and face a space crisis. Well, I did, so I bought this 320 gig portable external hard drive. It transports well and it has relieved the space issue on my laptop. It does require electricity, so it's not like you can take it up on a mountaintop with your laptop, but you can get rid of stuff you don't use all the time and store it. You can also back up your computer on this (although using their software may be problematic). Having read the reviews of this, I elected not to use the included software and I like this hard drive very much.

I have had a WD Hard Drive for over 6 years and no single issue, I am looking another one to replace the existing one which after a lot of use began to fail, but still kept my data so I can recover my files. BTW, Quantum used to be a great quality in the old times...
