Takes a while to absorb all the functions and implementing them, but this turned out to be a great buy. I have installed additional phones to the set, implemented one touch dialing using a low cost international paid card carrier, set up the intercom, and loaded my personal phone book. Works in all parts of my house without a loss of signal and use in the backyard with no problems. The learning curve takes a while for one who only had a one phone system before, but was worth it. Buy it on sale, great buy!

I had bought this radio at a Radio Shack store in town when we went to visit my dad in Indiana last Christmas. I had only bought it because my old Radio Shack cb I have had for about 8 1/2 years had died on me on the way there. I Bought the 520Xl and hooked it up to my SWR meter with my 3 ft Firestik antenna with magnet mount I had on the back, and right off, i never had to make an adjustment at all, because I had a SWR reading between 1:0 and 1:5. I used this radio on the way back, and was able to reach people up to 5 miles away, which was great! unfortunatly on the way back, I had to take my antenna off because everytime a semi passed us on the road, it would blow my antenna off the truck. When I got home, I took my CB to a cb shop near by and had it peaked and tuned, so now it gets 14 watts out ... Read More

Very easy to "link" to existing base. A good extension phone for the price. No complaints. Base, etc. was purchased at Best Buy although they do not carry the extension phones.

All I can say is this is probably the best value for a DSC unit. It works great, and is very well made. It has a large, clear display and plenty of volume. Adding a flush mount kit will make it look like a professional installation in your console. If you want a radio that is simple to use and has all the safety features, I don't think you can beat the price!

Shipping was very timely. Expensive though. This battery lasts longer than the original, which came with the phone. The phone, if off the hook with minimal use last up to 12-15 days, sooooooo long we have to think about ,,,,,when will the phone die. LOL

I can't say enough about the poor quality of Uniden phones. I purchased these (but with the 4 phones and then purchased an additional 2 units) 2 years ago at one of the big box warehouses. I bought Uniden because of the glowing reviews in Consumer Reports and on the Amazon site. What a mistake! From the very beginning, the phones' reception was poor. If you answered the phone before it had completed two full rings, the phone dropped the call. One unit was in our computer room; one could never answer a call on that phone. Another phone, including its base unit, was located in a room off the garage. That phone never rang the first time, and only sounded on the second ring. Because the answering unit picked up on the fourth ring, there were innumerable calls that ended up on the answering ... Read More
