I had a Uniden handheld unit with lots of frequencies programmed in - seldom heard anything. I got this desktop unit and wow...all the difference in the World. Chatter all the time. Now I know what's going on in my locality. Police, school buses, transit buses, local airport, ambulances, gas and electric companies, streets departments, animal control, prisons, ham operators and of course the weather. And I still have lots of space for more frequencies. I got it because I was jealous going to friends and neighbors and their scanners going off now and then, but this unit makes theirs look sick.

Needed to replace a lost phone. Of course, two days after this shows up, we find the lost unit. That's OK. These phones work great.

Many cordless phones on the market today feel like slippery little bars of soap. Not this one. It feels solid and indestructible. It's even covered in black rubber to make it easier to hold. The sound quality is crystal clear, and the maximum volume setting is extraordinarily loud. It doesn't have a lot of gimmicky features: there are only a few simple ringtones, for example. But it is a pleasure to use, and it will probably last until landlines go the way of the telegraph.

Within the last month I purchased a new cordless phone, model WX1477. It has never gotten wet. It has never even been close to being wet. I find the length of the battery life to be extremely poor (less than 3 days). My previous cordless, a Panasonic, could go for two (2) weeks without having to worry about returning it to its charging cradle. All the other features of this phone are great. It looks gorgeous. The speakerphone is louder than my Panasonic was. But keeping this Uniden in the charge cradle is a real drag. A less-than-average cordless.

I didn't like the phone at first. The extra phones I bought (Uniden TCX905) didn't immediately sync with the base. I had to check the user manual and go through a few extra steps to make them work together. Even so, you can't swap out these phones with the base's phone cradle because they don't fit. But, after you do sync them, they communicate. The problem is, I can also hear the conversation on the second line when I am using the first line, even in private mode. Worse, I couldn't hear over the static. I was tempted to return it. Then, I called tech support and got the automated assistance, seeing as how I had called at a bad time. It is stylish, which was a factor for me with my new VOIP system that has to plug into my computer. Since my Media Center PC by my LCD TV is the one on all the time, that was where i needed it to be. So wanted something with a good look to it. Phone works well, menus aren't convoluted, very straight forward setup. I was using it within minutes. Clear sound, responsive buttons, easy voicemail unit to set up and use. One of the best things about these phones is the nicely designed bases and phones, with only a few simple buttons and nice, clean finishes. The handset menu structure and number directory are straight-forward. One of the greatest things is the built in answering machine, which works really well and is equally easy to check messages from using either the base or the handsets. When you have a message waiting, you get both a red LED and an occasional beep, so you can't miss a message. Listening, skipping, rewinding and deleting are all one-button operations. This is the perfect phone for us. It is clear and has an intercom feature that really helps. My husband and I are disabled, so if we are in different rooms it is hard to communicate. This solved the problem. I originally bought this phone for our home. This year I gave it to our nurses aid and her family. She loves it also. She replaced their old cordless phones. She says she gets a much larger range with this one. Good product. I bought 2 of the red accessory phones to add to our set and hers. Cute phone. Easy to use.
