The reviews of this product smacked of the manufacturer's marketing department hiring interns to post bogus positive reviews. Sure enough, over and over again so many of the 4 and 5 star reviews are by accounts that exist only to have posted the bogus reviews here. Please, someone who is familiar with similar models by other companies, name other recommendations here. I hate to give business to a manufacturer that engages in such smarmy and deceptive business practices. Much less the red flag that those posting the bogus reviews clearly don't have confidence in their product based on its own merits. What can I say? It's a camera case. It's light weight, stylish and has a couple of extra pockets for your spare battery or memory card. It's compact, fits into your pocket and is easy to carry around on vacation, at the zoo or where ever your picture taking takes you!

im a journalist and ive found this device to be very functional. mostly relying on a recording device is a bad idea; usually it's efficient to just dictate the choice quotes when you're actually having the conversation. but for review purposes being able to record a phone conversation can come in handy, and this device gets the job done.

This is an attractive little microphone but the specs do not mention that it is mono, not stereo, and I did not notice the image of the mono jack in the photo. Monaural recordings play back in the left ear but not the right, breaking symmetry.

I bought this little gadget mainly for recording meetings and live music. Previously I used a Sony MD-recorder, which is also quite good but required MD-tape and the sonicstage software for transferring and editing isn't exactly very updated. The recording quality is quite clear. One tip in recording is that make sure that both the left and right mics are equally expose. I put the recorder sideway (I originally thought that one side of the mic facing up would be ok already) in my bag when recording live music and the left and right stereo sound turned out to be a bit unbalanced. I've compared a meeting recording between Sony MD and Olympus, which were placed next to each other, and discovered that the vocal in MD is louder but there is also sort of a background hum, whereas the vocal ... I have to write minutes and don't take shorthand so a good recorder is a must. So far, Olympus recorders have proven to be the best. I purchased this recorder for its ability to export wav files playable in Windows Media Player. My boss and I are able to share the meeting recording with my colleagues and the recorder has been able to capture the voices around the room. I use it on lecture and the highest quality because the women often have a habit of speaking softly in meetings so it can be difficult to capture their voices. We went to BurningMan this summer and the dust destroyed my Minolta digital camera. I searched for something dust proof, water proof, shock proof and the Olympus was the answer. After it arrived it took very few minutes to read instructions and began taking excellent pictures. I look forward to another week on the Playa with a camera that will take the abuse.
