Incredibly overpriced because they can do it. It's just a stupid cable but if you want to hook your GPS to a Nikon D3 you will have to pay the going rate and than another $80 for the Nikon adapter. It's cumbersome and too long for my needs but it fastens securely and does the job.

Note that this product does work. It charges via the input on the GPS itself, rather than via the suction cup cradle. The coiled cord is so short however, that I struggled to maintain good connectivity between the cigar lighter and the GPS, mounted on my windshield.

Great product...would recommend to anyone with a Garmin going over to Europe. I installed it on my computer and found it very easy to use and being able to select the actual area I wanted was nice because it saved TONS of memory space on my GPS.

The Amazon product description of the Garmin GDB 55 says it's compatible with the 500 series Garmin GPS. It is not compatible with a c580. The product photo shows an adapter that would be compatible with my c580 but that is not what came in a package labeled Garmin MSN Direct Receiver GDB 55. The GDB 55 I received has a mini-USB connection. While it will power my c580, it will not provide MSN direct services. My c580 displayed a message advising it was attached to an incompatible adapter. We used this map to drive down to Veracruz and then up along the coast to Campeche. We found the map useful but outdated - several important highways, some of them several years old, were missing. By the time we got to Veracruz, we purchased a Guia Roji road atlas to supplement the GPS. Where this map shines is in the city and town maps - we were surprised that even remote mountain villages had their streets mapped. Even with the GPS and paper atlas, it is possible to get really lost, for instance we spent the better part of an hour trying to cross Tampico - the GPS helped a lot in showing us where we were within the city but the changed street directions and construction zones were too much for the routing to work. I officially used my Garmin Rino 120 for the first time a couple of days ago and it was so handy. My team needed to mark an area so we could return to it later, they were really impressed with that feature. After 5 hours of searching, it took us back to our starting position. I'm lovin' it!

I recently bought the Garmin Topo Canada software for my eTrex Venture HC, even though a search on Garmin's site did not list it as compatible software. I found it worked exactly like the Garmin US Topo (more on this) and loaded on the eTrex without any problems. The Canada Topo does a nice job listing all major and minor roads, streams, mountains, and hiking paths in SW Canada (my favorite area). I was also pleased with the high road detail in Banff, Lake Louise, Calgary, etc. Oddly, it did not list the famous "tea houses" above Lake Louise, though it did list the paths leading to them. I travel internationally and was looking for something that would give me an idea what cities I was over from the air, when riding on commercial transportation. This product does that well from the air, but as I read on several other reviews, on the ground, it can be another story. It can put you on the wrong side of a river or when riding on a train, the depicted track can be 3/4 mile away or more. I have the US Street map and that works fine and is very accurate, but the World database still needs some tweaking. I use it with the Etrex Vista.

Clearly a great tool for cycling, and I love it - when it works. But I've now had to return mine for the 5th time, due to the unit shutting itself off mid-ride. Very annoying, and dealing with Garmin customer service is super slow (usually 30-45 minutes on hold before you can find a human) Love it, just wish it were reliable.
