Like just about everyone else making a major purchase like this, I agonized for the past few months over PLASMA vs. LCD, SONY or SAMSUNG, 120hz vs 60hz. Every time my family and I went to a store to view the various TV options first hand, the picture on the Samsung LNa650 and LNa750 were just mind blowing and clearly sstandout from all the other tvs LCD or Plasma. So then the debate narrowed down to do we purchase the 650 or 750, since the price was so close and the subwoofer, speaker placement and DNLA compliance and slightly faster processing were nice additional features. Welcome to my critical review of the Samsung A650. After reading all the positive reviews about this TV, and reading about the other Samsung model (A750) I decided the A650 would be my new living room set. The A750 had some bad reviews about the glare on edges of the screen border. The A650 did not! This was my first big ticket item I bought from Amazon. The delivery went well. I called CEVA and setup a time with them to bring it out. Two guys from CEVA carried the set in, unpacked it and pluged it in. Have had this TV for about a month now. Amazon delivery was great. They took it out of the box, hooked it up and tried it to make sure it worked with no problems. Could tell they were in a hurry but that is understandable. They did what was necessary and I am completely satisfied with the delivery. The TV operates great no real problems. There seems to be a great variation in quality of signals coming in. I am hooked up with HDMI. HD channels are great but hard to watch SD after watching the HD. SD is nothing to brag about. My viewing distance is usually about 6 feet as I watch most of the time from my computer chair. Sitting a couple feet farther away does help with the SD. 6 feet is fine for HD. After spending a career in print and video production, I was very reluctant to leap into an all-in-one machine when the price was less than I paid for my first digital camera (and not a very good one at that). I worried over the Epson (my choice for years for photo printing), HP and the Canon. By the time I was on a first name basis with the staff at several local shops (spent hours printing and comparing) and after hours on the Web reading all there was to read, I was still confused. I finally selected the Canon MX850 because the physical unit seemed to be better built than the other two lines. Also the photo/copy products were great. I am using this to convert old 35mm slides to digital. I am impressed with the quality of the results. The scanner will handle 4 slides at once, giving a preview of each if you want. Otherwise load the slides and scan. Attached is an example of a slide from 1964. The reproduced picture matches the slide very well. I plan on scanning about 1500 slides from 1951 to the 1980's. I like the results I am getting from this product.

Got printer today, installed in minutes, works perfectly. I knock off a star because I connected to Win XP thru USB 2.0 cable. Cable does not come with printer. I had to dig up a cable.

I've had this TV for about 4 months now and so far so good. I use this as my bedroom TV and I find it to be near perfect. It is mounted on my wall using the Premier AM2 mount, also very highly recommended. It is hooked up to an HD DVR cable box and a DVD/VCR combo player. Pros: HD channel picture quality excellent, standard picture quality very good, good deal for what you get, attractive design, easy setup, customizable controls (which i haven't really played around with much yet), VESA 200x200 mounting pattern (one of the most common), ease of overall use, picture quality very good when watching sports and movies Cons: like many of the non-top-ofthe-line Samsung TVs this one suffers in the sound department. it isnt horrible, but the quality just isn't there. there is also an occasional humming noise ... Did our research and settled on Samsung as the brand we wanted. Researched Samsung products and selcected the Series 650 40" LCD/HDTV. Buying through Amazon was almost $400 less than the best local price. Price included free shipping and it was fast. Extended Warranty details were associated right there on the product page. Took it out of the box, plugged things up, and powered it on. Then it automatically initialized itself with on-screen progress shown. In less than 10 minutes we were watching the most brilliant, detailed, accurate, sharp, clear colors that we're far superior to any color TV that we've used in our lifetimes.
