This is an excellent turntable to connect to your PC to rip the old LPs to a digital format. The turntable works flawlessly. I originally planned to connect it to a USB port, but it has so many connection options, that I was able to connect it directly to my sound card's line-in. All connectors and adapters are included in the box. The software is OK. I immediately used Audacity as I was familiar with it.(it is available on line for free) It does an excellent job of recording from the turntable. Cakewalk software (PC only) is also included, but I haven't used it yet. I nearly purchased another brand, but I am very happy that I chose Audio Technica.

It's everything the reviews say. Wonderfully natural sound. Tracks at little more that 1gram so your precious vinyl will last forever AND somehow it misses any dirt in the grooves. I sometimes think that I'm listening to the quietness of a CD but the glorious sound of analogue!

Audio-Technica AT-PL120 Professional Direct-Drive Turntable This turntable looks nice, seems nice, but it was hard to get to work and after a few months the stylus starts skidding across the disks. I modified the anti skating to 2.5 and 3.5 but it still did it. Then reading other reviews I found that shanging the cartridge may resolve the problem. I did and bought a Shure 97E and it now works Ok. However, the "humm" that some reviewers comment is also present in my case. I have not been able to get rid of it yet. For the price, I would not buy it again and I would not recommend it.

Easy to set up, great accuracy, clean uncluttered sound, perfect for my old 60's & 70's albums.

If you're looking for a simple to use, cheap turntable to play your records, this one will work. If you've never played a vinyl record in your life, this turntable takes care of starting and stopping the record automatically. Setup is minimal and you can go from opening the box to playing a record in less than 5 minutes. If you're looking for a professional-style turntable with lots of features, this won't work for you. If you need the turntable to sit more than a foot from your receiver you will also need a cord extension. The cartridge isn't replaceable and there's no tone adjustment. I've used this product every night for over a month now and I haven't had a single problem with it. It plays records, nothing more, nothing less.

This product is a basic record player and simple to operate. It isn't for extremely picky music lovers, just for people who want to hear their old record albums again or listen to their yard-sale finds. The volume doesn't go EXTREMELY high but is plenty loud enough and the sound can be adjusted somewhat using the tone dial. The case is thick and sturdy, but the actual turntable seems a little wobbly (thus the 4 star review, instead of 5). I've had no trouble with it and my family and I are enjoying it very much. I'm happy that I bought it and would do so again.

This turntable works great! You really need to plug into speakers as the built-in speaker is very quiet. We hooked it up to some M-Audio Studiophle AV 40 powered speakers and it sounds fantastic (you can also plug your ipod into these speakers). I have been listening to my old records like crazy. Warning, it will make you want to buy new vinyl too! It is plastic, lightweight, and easy to use, but maybe not as heavy and solid as some folks would want. It is great for trying out vinyl in the store, very portable with batteries, but certainly heavier. I do not know yet how long 6 batteries last. It's fun.

I am not a sneering audiophile, just a dignified music lover who invested in hundreds of records in the 1980s and since. So I decided to upgrade my 20-year-old turntable with something reputable that wouldn't hurt the records but wouldn't cost multiple hundreds of dollars. I bought this turntable, and, at the advice of some other reviewers, the Grado black P-mount cartridge. Warning: it may be possible to break the tonearm by installing the cartridge carelessly, so unplug everything, lock down the arm, and proceed with great delicacy. My ears/speakers may not be good enough to appreciate the improvement the new ($60) cartridge has made--in any event I did not do controlled listening experiments--but it's nice that I have the original cartridge as a spare.
