Wow! 25 miles! You see this on the packaging and you think all is going to be great. Well, in suburban/urban environments, it's more like 2 miles or less. Now that's not bad, but better off bringing your cell phone when possible.. After about a mile, things garble up on both ends. I didn't experience interference on any channels, so perhaps the filtering channels were doing their job, but I didn't test these out in a resort area either. The menu system (UI) also takes a bit of getting used to. You've got to push a bunch of buttons to change channels and such. The button placement is good and the size of the radios are reasonable. Rechargeable batteries that are included are fine, though charging time is 10+ hours, a bit high even for modern day NiMH. Li-ion would probably raise the cost ... Read More

Not bad for the money. Uniden makes some very good electronics. the devices are sturdy enough, but range is always a factor. We all know that unless you purchase a commercial device the range will always be subject. We enjoy the units and they are great for what we use them for, in the woods, walking, camping etc...

Midland AVPH3 Transparent Security Headsets with PTT/VOX. I was expecting more from a premier communications gear manufacture; I didn't get it. The VOX capability on this headset is useless. In order to get the VOX function to work at all you have to have the gain turned all the way up while holding the microphone within an inch or less from your mouth. This defeats the whole propose I purchasing this headset for. The headset works fine for PPT but that's not what I wanted them for.

Well worth the money and is really nice and compact. Built an overhead enclosure for it in my hotrod pickup and it really worked out nice.

the midland 75-822 works quite well for me. I go into the hills on logging roads and have to know what the loggers are doing. Works great. with a quick disconnect I can be walking in the woods

My family used these for my several hundred-mile move -- one in the car, one in the moving truck. We were rarely out of sight of each other, so I can't say much about the range of the radios, but the signal was usually clear. We saved quite a bit on cell phone charges, and the radios were certainly more effective than hand signals.

they look great but our two way GMRS radios get better range then the cbs
