I only used this a few weeks until I purchased another cheap MP3 player. It does eat batteries pretty quick but it gets the job done. If you want to listen to MP3s, espically podcasts, I would say buy a GPX MP3 player from Kmart. You don't have to burn a MP3 CD you'll only use once, and it takes less batteries.

Pro:
- anti-skid really works here. No skid of any kind,
- battery saver big time,
- internal battery compartment, won't fall out by accident (goes well with anti-skid)
- remembers where it left off! If I open the cover and close and restart, it starts from where it left off!

Neutral:
- sound quality is ok, no better or worth than my $300 Yamaha or my $9.99 generic brand player from Target. The trick is the headphone. I only listen with Grado SR325 or SR125. Any CD play sounds equally fantastic. It's all in the disk, all in the headphone jack. You just need the right headphone to bring it out to your ears.

Con:
- buttons too small and hard to decipher, display is TINY and almost impossible to read. Doesn't come with AC power ... Read More

Already there are hitches in disc play despite all attempts to rectify,. The radio qualityu is mediocre. The antenna broke off with a single turn without force. I would not buy again from this accompany, feeling fleeced and disappointed, and would nbot reccommend the product. If I had the time to waste on warranty stuff, I would seek and expect reparation; it is of very limited use

The radio is great. I needed one for tape playing for some of our homeschooling items and this fit the bill. The remote is just a major bonus since now I don't have to get up and down from the table while we're working...I can just change it from where ever I am. I hope it lasts.

I'm very happy with this cd-player. I can definitely hear more nuances and details in the music. So far, it is behaving beautifully, and I'm enjoying it a great deal.

7.Sony CFD-S350 CD/Cassette Portable Boombox (Silver) from: Sony
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Electronics : Sony CFD-S350 CD/Cassette Portable Boombox (Silver)
I bought this to replace a refurbished Phillips boom box I bought online for $30 that had served me for over a decade before it's CD player went out. The Sony is a piece of junk. I'm a pro musician and I use a boombox to learn the bass lines to songs (I play electric bass), and to jam along. This has NO bass. I mean NONE. The Mega-Bass, as another reviewed said, does nothing. Second, the treble is awful, too! The best test of treble is to listen to cymbals. If you've ever played drums, or listened to live drums, you know the crisp, sizzling sound of real cymbals. One this box, cymbals sound really mushy, and almost sound like they're being played through a phase shifter. This is a really, really bad boom box, and for what you pay - not cheap either.

8.Sony MHC-EC55 Mini Hi-Fi Component System from: Sony

It is DEFINITELY worth the money. It works beautifully, and the sound is excellent. I purchased it for my Stepdaughter. She is autistic, and lives in a group home. As soon as one of the caregivers checked it out, she came back the next week with money in her hand, and had me order one exactly like it for her home. She loves it too. I would certainly recommend it to anyone.

I've used this boombox at a worksite for the past few months now. Already it has survived a 6 foot fall onto concrete with only minor scratching. It is loud enough to be heard over generators and air compressors and lasts a solid week on batteries when used for 9 hours a day on high volume. The line-in jack is a great feature for working in areas with poor radio reception.

My only complaint (and the reason it doesn't get 5 stars) is that the radio resets itself when switching from wall power to battery power - forcing you to retune and readjust the volume. For most people it's probably not a problem, but when working around generators and trying to save batteries it gets old quickly.

I returned this product without even plugging it in. As soon as I took it out of the box I noticed that the audio in button was on the front of the machine vs the back. Big "no-no" for me as it did not allow me to use my XM plug in unless I wanted unsightly audio wires on the front of the machine.
