I own over 30 Hammer flicks on DVD, & there are only a few I do not own that I want to( the Cushing-less 'Horror of Frankenstein' is one available that I don't want, 'Kiss of the Vampire' I have 'cuz it came in a box set with other excellent Hammers I DID want ), and this release plugs a very BIG hole in my horror library, sub-group Hammer Films! 'The Gorgon', IMO, is up there with the Cushing Frankensteins & Lee Draculas. 'Curse of the Mummy's Tomb' is not the best of Hammer, but it's hardly the worst - nice to see it in this set. 'Scream of Fear' & 'Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll' I cannot comment on as I have not seen them. But I will..........soon!

As an avid fan of George Romero I was overall pleased with this film. It had some good plot mechanics and over all was an enjoyable movie. Though as it progressed I felt that it didnt quite grasp the emotions for the characters as the other films had in the past. That is not to say that all of the the movie was bland in that department. Just at some moments with close friends dying off there wasnt quite the griefing as there should have been. Given that I dont even know how I would feel if put in their situation. One other issue came to my attention. When watching a video from the 2007 Sundance on this film, some of the blood and effects were indeed CG. With more and more directors moving over to that area it is some what dissapointing to see that the stage blood and Real mechanics of a movie are fading. ... Read More

One of the greatest movies i have ever seen!!! Great performances by all and especially by Jill Banner(Virginia). Saw it for the first time a month ago and have watched it 5 times since then. Most movies being made today don't even compare to this MASTERPIECE. Highly Recommended!

This movie was ok. Especially the very first part of the movie. If the rest of the movie was as suspenseful as the first part I would have given this movie 5 stars. It's the French version of "The Strangers." I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes suspense. You, however, will be disappointed if you watch "High Tension" or "Frontier(s)" first.

Peter Cushing is at his clinically clean best as an ambitious and "do anything" collector of Historical Horror artifacts. He finally lands on a horror collectors dream... the Skull of the "Marqui De Sade" The Skull has a life force that kills at will and floats around in the midst a green fog like cloud. Once Cushings character obtains the skull all kinds of nasty horror stuff starts happening. The dream sequence is very well done. Chistopher Lee stars as the previous owner of the "Skull" who advises Peter Cushing to get rid of it at any cost. An Amicus production. It's a very good 70's Britsh Horror Flick. Excellent Remastering.

Faces of death is a classic pseud-snuff film that everyone thought was real and many still do (See review stating this is cruelty to animals). There are graphic scenes of violence and death, but none of them are real. The fact that this got such a reaction out of people makes it a movie classic. I'm not sure how it will transfer over to blue-ray, but it may make some of the special affects used more apparent. So many believed it was real because of the documentary style approach, the manner in which it was filmed, and the gruesome nature that made viewers look away and not try to analyze whether or not what they were watching was real.

One of the best Cthulhu movies I have ever seen. It manages to catch the feel and look of Lovecraft and combine it with a silent film. I highly recommend this DVD.
