An excellent DVD of the 'Mirrorball' concert, this DVD offers great sound and excellent visuals to go along with Sarah's polished stage act.

There are two sides of Bruce Springsteen, we have Bruce Springsteen the solo artist who gives us folk albums and then we have Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street which give us rock albums. So on this episode of Storytellers we find Bruce Sprintsteen the solo artist giving us insight into songs (some popular others much less known) that span his career as an artist in general. Bruce treats the show as if his audience are aspiring songwriters. He delves into how he approaches the craft of songwriting more than focusing on the individual stories and I think that's why I really enjoyed it so much. Aspiring songwriters will likely watch this one over and over again, casual fans and fans of the more up tempo side of Bruce may be disappointed.

I bought this DVD from Amazon expecting it would be new. It's not..it's old and scratched. But yet it wasn't taken out of the packaging. So is amazon repacking DVD's and selling them as new? Besides that it's a great DVD. Just wish I would of gotten what I paid for. A NEW unscratched DVD.

I loved the performances but what a huge disappointment the sound is. I had trouble understanding what the words were for most songs. It's a shame such a landmark concert was produced by hacks. Can the original sound be that bad? Did they only record to videotape. I can forgive the mediocre video for that era, but there is no excuse for bad mastering. Hacks!

When funding for school music classes were being cut all over the country people kind of brushed it off as a non-necessity. Studies prooved that many kids prosper in other academic subjects when taking a music class. Art should be available for all kids in school as well as sports. This benefit concert brought awareness to that. Mariah, Celine, Gloria & Shania all appeard to support the cause. And of course Ms. Aretha Franklin. The performnaces were great. Carol King was brought out as a special guest of Celine Dion. The best part of the show was when the diva's sang You've Got A Friend and Natural Woman. This show sounds even better with the 5.1 sound.

The video's may be a little cheesy in places (particularly the earlier clips - to be expected) but the songs stand up for themselves. Through the timeline you can see the blossoming of Sarah as an artist and an attractive woman.

From reading some of the reviews here, I do agree that the picture and audio quality that we are used to nowadays is a little off on this DVD. However, I'm guessing that the '94 concert footage was shot with a low budget camera (not digital) with standard audio capture... so I think of it as watching a VHS quality tape... but on a DVD. Keep in mind that Sarah was just beginning to break out of her shell at this time... meaning there was probably less investment from her record company. As for the interview segments that are mixed between songs... I'm sure it was a tactic to keep the content from being too repetitive... plus this footage was released on VHS so they couldn't separate the concert and interview segments like they could if it was being shot for DVD originally. I really enjoyed this DVD biography of Sarah McLachlan. I have been a fan of hers for 15 years since the release of her Fumbling Toward Ecstasy album. There have been other biographies of Sarah but I have never seen one at such a personal level, with so many of her childhood photos or so many interviews with her friends and family. Since Sarah is quite private about her life, I was surprised about how revealing this biography was. It was sad to hear Sarah's effusive comments about her happy marriage since that marriage has broken down fairly recently (but long after the interviews were recorded).
