I thought I'd gotten old and jaded. I've seen the Beatles live (Forest Hills Stadium, NYC 1964); and the whole gamut from Rick James to Hank, Jr. Video - or live - this is the best concert I've seen in my life. Five magnificent voices, five distinctive styles, carefully melded into a series of individual and group performances. A young teen (Damian McGinty) who will absolutely knock your socks off; Paul Byrom, a genuine Irish Tenor, who's doing his best work in a group format; Ryan Kelly, a young accountant who's living his dream with a killer voice; Keith Harkin a future solo superstar singer, guitarist, and composer who the whole world will hear from soon; and George Donaldson, a Scottish folk singer, who cannot be ignored by the Broadway stage. Phil Coulter and Sharon Brown have created ... Read More

After having known Scorsese's earlier work like "Last Waltz" and recently "No Direction Home - Bob Dylan", I expected "Shine a light" to be of a similar standard. But it's mostly damp squib with the entire movie being about just one concert (all songs shown are played fully) with very few titbits from backstage and fewer clips from Stones' earlier years. This is not a documentary on the Rolling Stones but rather an extended dvd of one concert. Nothing really stands out here. All in all very avoidable. Hugely disappointing as earlier works like "The Last Waltz" and "No Direction Home" are like collectibles that can be watched several times over the years with their timeless quality..."Shine a Light" is nowhere near that..one watch and you can toss it in the bin...oh well...

I rarely review, but felt compelled to save people from this one. The audio is horrible. I tried DD, DTS, stereo, etc. Muddy, muddled, echo'y...not sure else how to describe it. The vocals are completely a mess...like they are singing thru a pillow, while the instruments are wide open. The video is crisp and clear, but often, it shifts scene to scene every 2 seconds. I could make lots of comments about content, but it is useless due to my above comments. I like ZZ!. But this is a disaster.

This boxset was absolutely amazing. I was thrilled with the item the second I opened it. I couldn't believe the amount of thought that was put into creating this DVD collection together. This is truly a collection that a diehard Beatles fan should not be without.

This is a great album! John plays three distinct sets - the first, mostly accoustic and by himself, is a lot of old favorites and some newer stuff - Set 2 is a blues bar set that you would swear John is channeling Stevie Ray Vaughan! Great guitar work, driving blues, good stuff! Set three is with the rest of the band, doing a lot of his newer stuff - it's a great album.

Sordid Lives is like many films that have attained "cult" status in that it's an awkward, ungainly production whose devotees embrace it for the very elements that mainstream audiences might consider flaws.

The story is simple and straightforward, and the characters are potentially interesting, but they most seem two-dimensional. Beau Bridges is wasted on a drunk buffoon who's never really funny or given much to do. Bonnie Bedelia fares better as the prissy mom of the narrating character, because she chooses to play the part straight instead of broad. Even when she's being ridiculous, she's far more real than most of the cast, who, while energetic, are often not likable and frequently cartoonish. I suspect this is more about the script and the direction than the actors.
