Just another sign I was born in the wrong generation. To have been at this concert, wow, what a memory. Fantastic work by Martin Scorcese.

This disc was purchased by me for my daughter who grew up in the Dylan
age. It has received numerous awards and is one of the best that Martin
Scorsese has ever produced. She is very pleased with it and will watch it for years to come - this is what she and I call a "keeper".

Wim Wenders' "Buena Vista Social Club" is a masterpiece. American blues guitarist Ry Cooder goes to Cuba,in search of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club. He comes to an impoverished, aging country. The clubs are long gone, living only in memories. Miraculously, Cooder finds living remnants of Cuba's musical scene-Ibrahim Ferrer, Ruben Gonzales, Compay Segundo, and the singer Omara Portuoundo. Their music is bittersweet. They sing of joys long vanished, of a freer time. Ry Cooder doesn't glamorize Cuba's squalor, nor the repression that drove its musicians underground.

"Buena Vista Social Club" shows musicians who are young at heart. Quite a few have since passed away since this film's release nearly a decade ago. The opening, the haunting "Chan Chan",sends chills down the spine. ... Read More

I have to say that I actually don't own this DVD, but I have seen it on VH1. If you are a Floyd fan, you have got to see this - it's fantastic. But if you want to buy this because you think it's a concert of Dark Side of Moon - don't!!! It's called "The Making of The Dark Side Of The Moon"....it isn't the music CD or a concert video. I don't see how some of these guys are giving this a 1 and 2 star rating because it doesn't have enough music on it - that's just plain stupid.

when i was senior high school,my school band always played Metallica songs. I truly admire Metallica, especially Kirk Hammet in his maestro killing thrash metal melody guitar. No one can compare with Kirk Hammet. I buy this DVD to remind me about old Metallica, Metallica who used to be a God of Metal, despite they seems downgrade now but i never forget how Metallica made all days so fun when in high school also in unversity.
This video show you how great their team to make an album. They are so solid and they truly professional in commercial band, and their songs, their clips so great. This product will bring you to the years when Metallica run faster to be a champion as a metal group.

This DVD is simply great, if you are even slightly interested in John Lennon.
It contains so much "behind the scenes" footage, that I was very surprised that he was as accessible as he appears in this documentary.
One scene shows a lost young man, who trespasses on Lennon's property in London. Mr. Lennon was kind and empathetic enough to go out and talk with the fan, and then subsequently invite him in to eat at their table.
It's kind of freaky, in a way that might portend his final chapter.
I was never overly impressed with Lennon's singing voice, and I can deal with the politics, since he seemed genuine in his efforts. What I always admired about Mr. Lennon and the older version of the Beatles, is that he could really JAM. This DVD intertwines so much of his best music ... Read More

Many productions you are expecting music and all you get is \people talking about each other and occasionally mentioning the artist. Ties is a great documentary as instead of people talking about each other you get a candid look at the artists, on and off the stage.

I was surprise to see such a young Joan Baez and it was fun to listen to her and Bob singing Hank Williams' songs.

Just as I was about to be disappointed because other than "Subterranean Homesick Blues" I thought we would never get a full song until I realized that there were extras with full track extras:
"It Ain't Me Babe" May 10, 1965
"It's All Over Now"/ "Baby Blue" May 10, 1965
"Love Minus Zero/No Limit" May 9, 1965
"The Lonesome Death Of Hattie Carroll" May 10, 1965
"To Ramona" ... Read More

Anyone who is a fan of the Doors HAS to include this DVD in their collection. It is very well organized and has a "special feature" narration by the remaining members of the Doors. This collection also features some songs I had not heard before and, of course, all of their hit songs. The DVD is presented in three sections--chronological order--with an excellent bonus collection section.

An ok attempt at explaining what really happened during this era. Most of the concert footage was pretty unsatisfying for someone who was there. Bad Brains were depicted well and Keith Morris is always entertaining. The movie title references years 1980-1986 but I am not really sure why the only Gang Green concert footage was from 1987. There was no mention of Dead Kennedys, Social Distortion or Misfits which seemed strange.
