From a guy who loves horror flicks that have perverse and even schlock humor infused into them, I have to say that HATCHET goes way beyond camp into utter stupidity. For those of you looking for a cool Evil Dead 2-esque take on the slasher genre, you will be extremely disappointed with this hack job of a film. Hatchet goes something like this: After a painfully long and dull setup, teens get trapped in the bayou and stalked by an invincible burn victim. One gets killed, and they run to another part of the bayou and bicker. Then the maniac shows up again, kills one of them, and they run another 100 yards (somehow shaking the guy off their trail). Repeat. It all gets so repetitive that I soon wished the killer would be a little more efficient in doing his work. In my opinion, Hatchet ... Read More

It's about what you would expect from a 1980s European horror movie. The movie is dubbed, the acting is bad and there are continuity problems that are pretty funny. One scene, a girl has a pony tail and a second later she doesn't. There is another scene where a dead person has their eyes open and then the next time you see the person a moment later, the eyes have closed (not because they were supposed to, but an obvious blooper). The dub acting was so bad, whoever was talking for the black guy reminded me a lot of Robert Downey Jr.'s character on Tropic Thunder. Maybe it was him! The gore itself is not a splatter fest like the comment on the cover of the movie suggests. It is basically typical of what you would see on a zombie movie like Night of the Living Dead. Maybe it was shocking in its ... Read More

There are a few good movies out of this but the rest are bad. If you are big into horror films, would not recommend this.

This is a delightful Hammer B-list movie; I saw it in 1971 on the second half of a double bill - tellingly I can't recall what the main picture was. A very enjoyable version of Bram Stoker's 'The Jewel of Seven Stars', (which has just been re-issued by Penguin Classics in paperback). HOWEVER - amazon are displaying this as a 'special edition' with a separate disc of Hammer trailers... it isn't, the copy I received this morning doesn't even have the enclosure, illustrated with the movie poster, which is pictured here. Once again amazon proves unreliable on item details.

Okay. If you're a hardcore horror enthusiast, I know you're already considering clicking that little "not helpful" button down there. That's fine. I'm not writing this for you. This review is for people who kinda like horror, and who have been told by their hardcore horror enthusiast friends, "You have got to watch HELLRAISER. It's a classic."

Movies are classics for a couple of reasons. Either they are timelessly good or they set the standard for the time with innovative directing, writing, or (usually) special effects. But let's be clear: just because something leaves its mark on cinematic history doesn't make it worthy of five stars. After all, the Model T was an historical creation, but compared to cars of today, it sucked.

HELLRAISER set the bar for horror movies of ... Read More

C.H.U.D. is a brilliant cult classic 80's horror film that I remember watching when I was a kid, I used to have this on vhs along with the awful sequel called C.H.U.D.2: Chud The Bud. What I've noticed about this dvd is that the film is completely uncut and seems to be much longer than the previous version which is great, there were a couple of gore scenes that were cut along with the bloody shower scene. Anchor Bay did a terrific job transferring this film and the picture quality was high, there wasn't any blurry images or maybe that was from my old vhs. Anyway the plot was about some bad government guys who are dumping toxic waste beneath the sewers in New York thus transforming homeless people into C.H.U.D.s (Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers) weird reptilian monsters with glowing eyes and taste ... Demons II I bought two copies of this re-master a year apart hoping they would fix a mastering flaw at aprox. 59 mins. The image starts jumping in a vertical fashion for a little while for no reason. I got in touch with Anchor Bay but they did not answer. The first release of this title did not have this problem. This is not an upgrade if this is not fixed. AVOID FOR NOW!!!!!

This is one boring movie. Even with the decent acting it's still boring. Once the little Indian guy hatch from her back. He don't do munch, but stay in the circle. I read the book it's far more better then the movie. It's a shame that the movie wasn't as good. Pass this one up, save your money.

We'll what can be said that hasn't already been said. This is a half decent bigfoot movie. Yes, it's "teens get slaughtered"! yes it's a little dated but it's still fun' I agree with other reviews that there is too much monster and when you do get a good look it's some what reminisant of a kabookie mask.
It's good value for money and a great way to scare tweenies with the family, though one scene is a little violent it's almost comic book humour in its "over the topness".
It's fun, worth the money and the gag reel is worth a look too.

Other than the two leading actors James Marsters and Tony Todd this movie is lame a horrid at best.In fact the only reason I still own it or bought in the first place was for these two actors being in it.
