I was just amazed how bad this was especially since it is a Rankin Bass movie. I totally disagree about this being a family film...it is not! They have one scene where two women get into a fight but first their clothes are removed down to their underwear before they begin fighting - not to mention that one women's boobs are so big and pointed that they could literally poke an eye out!

Bad music, worse dialogue and the story line makes you snooze. The song that Phyllis Diller does is just about the worst I have ever heard.

This movie is over 90 minutes long and that would be about 85 minutes too long.

Jack Brooks Monster Slayer is one of those films that I enjoy more with every viewing. When I first watched it, I was waiting for the monsters, action, and of course Robert Englund's performance. All were worth the wait, but I was introduced to a whole list of great new characters. Harold probably being the best surprise. It shows off what even small budget films can do without relying heavily on c.g.i., with a lot of tricks reminiscent of Sam Raimi in Evil Dead 2. It's a fun film that I see fitting in with 80s favorites like The Monster Squad, Fright Night, Night of the Creeps, Evil Dead 2, and so on. I have yet to see Inside and Mother of Tears, but so far this is my favorite horror film released on DVD this year.

H5: The Revenge of Micael Myers, is said to have failed and be the worst in the series, but I can't figure out what is so bad about it. It's almost like Halloween 4, it has most of the same characters like Jamie, Rachel, Dr. Loomis, and of course Myers!

This movie also had some decent killes

SPOILER

There is a really good death scene where a couple is having sex in a cellar of a barn, and the boy is impaled with a pitchfork, while the woman is sliced up with a scythe.

Then this boy gets his faced picked with a pitchfork leading to a bloody finish.

This time, Jamie has returned back to normal by the help of a childrens clinic she stays at, shes has developed a 'boy' friend named William (Billy). She must stop Michael from claiming her just like ... Read More

This is a cute story for the under 6 crowd. It's only a 30 minute cartoon (it does come with a CD of spooky sounds), so I think the price is a little steep. I got it at Sam's for just under $9, which I also think is a lot for such a short DVD, but, my son (age 4) enjoys it.

In order to enjoy this movie, you simply cannot take it seriously. If you watch it expecting to be scared or enlightened, you will be severely disappointed. However, if you're just looking for a brainless good time, you need look no further. The bad special effects and overdone acting make for a wonderfully campy and hilarious combination.

If you liked the first Evil Dead movie then this will be a nice refresher of some very similar scenarios. After seemingly escaping with his life intact, Ash is back in a cabin! I tell you that boy has no common sense but without his poor judgment who else would release demons back onto our domain? So back in the cabin - check, new girlfriend - check, recycled gift given ( necklace) to new girlfriend since the last one died - check, demon book in cabin - check, tape recorder with the words needed to release the evil - check...we are back in business! Ash gets back to doing what he knows best - unleashing havoc into the world of the living. One would think that he has joined some wicked book of the month club, where the books end up getting people killed as he's always finding them. Best part is that the action starts right ... Released in '87, the same year as the fluffy vampire flick, The Lost Boys, Near Dark is an almost flawless transfusion of poetically morbid cinematic blood. It starts off a little slow, but once it gets going...you better pray for daylight.

THE TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGIN'
Ain't modern technology grand? It helped these vampires evolve. I'm guessing some laser treatment from the orthodontist took care of the fangs. Maybe the bat DNA was genetically removed by some scientists. After a couple of milleniums these dark immortals have taken Jesus as their saviour, and subsequently holy water and crucifixes no longer inflict pain. This is the new generation of blood suckers.

JUST LIKE A WOMAN
Yes. this is directed by a woman, Kathryn Bigelow. The female touch in horror is sorely lacking, for ... Read More
