Note: This review contains spoilers; please do not read if you do not wish to find out important plot points before viewing the film.

This movie has so much---stunning scenery, a great cast, tight writing, economic plot, and haunting music---and it takes its time to unfold its tale of stark vengeance and redemption. This is unmistakably and indelibly a Sergio Leone vision. One could imagine that Clint Eastwood was first offered the role of Harmonica, the avenger, and then it went to Charles Bronson. However it worked out, Bronson was superb as the Everyman hero/possible avenging angel character; he projected a subtle sorrow in his piercing eyes, even his body language, that made him perfect for the role.

The plot is multilayered, revolving around a lovely widow (Claudia ... Read More

I first saw this movie in 1968 when I returned from Vietnam,
It was one of the best cowboy shoot em ups I had seen then and yuppers now 40 years later it still is among the best of the best.
Eastwood is hard core at his best!!.
I have wanted to buy this entire series for all of this time, finally I bought this one and the 2 others exactly like it in it's series.
They are by the way the best ones of those I reviewed, they are as great now to watch as they were then...
I seldom watch movies twice, this is a exception it's very well done.
I love my copy and the others in the series

Jack Beauregard is a legendary gunslinger who's hanging up his pistols and sailing to Europe to live out the rest of his days in peace. That's until Nobody shows up and begins stalking him. Jack can't figure out why Nobody is constantly around and becomes increasingly frustrated with him, unsure if he's friend or foe. Nobody is probably the fastest gun alive, but a total buffoon and a klutz.....or is he? He may be a goof, but Nobody has a plan and he's determined to see it through. He's idolized Jack all his life and can't accept Jack simply going out with a whimper. He wants to make Jack a legend by having him do something extraordinary. His plan(part of it anyway) is to have Jack face off with a gang of 150 outlaws. Most of the film is Nobody's attempts to lure Jack into this situation, as well as getting ... Read More

This 1964 film was the first of what came to be called "Spaghetti Westerns" and took then TV star Clint Eastwood and made him into a major Movie Star. If you look on IMDG at Clint Eastwood's career you will be amazed at how rich and varied it has been. Star of all kinds of movies, director of many films, producer, writer, and much more. Just amazing.

This film is Sergio Leone's remake of Kurosawa's wonderful "Yojimbo" (1961) and uses guns instead of swords just as John Sturges's "The Magnificent Seven" had done with "The Seven Samurai" (1954) in 1960. In both films, an unnamed stranger shows up in a town torn between two crime families. The stranger proves his ability with a gun in one and a sword in the other. He is courted by both sides, and angers both by taking payment and doing `chores' for ... Read More

I've been a fan of the Sergio Leone westerns for more years than I care to count, particularly the 'man with no name' trilogy starring Eastwood, followed very closely by 'Duck You Suckers'. I've seen these movies many times, but never in their entirity until now. After 40+ years, we now have complete versions in this anthology - not to mention a lot of background material that I thoroughly enjoyed watching as well.

This collection is a must if you're a Clint Eastwood fan, A Sergio Leone fan, or just someone who likes the old spaghetti westerns and wants to see the whole movie, uncut by censors or chopped up to show on TV between commercials. Great set! Go for it!

If Clint Eastwood didn't win an Academy award for this movie, he should have. This is a story about three men. All of whom are very, very greedy. Each one of them possesses their own set of rules regarding getting the "goods". This is an older movie that was first released in the 1960s (I was just a mere kid then). I remember it fondly because of its unforgettable musical score. I have that tune on my cell phone now. I remember that either the score or that particular cut won an award the following year. Anyway, if you like westerns, you'll love this one.
