Guchot's documentary is about Martha Argerich's oneness with the music she plays. We knew it existed already from hearing her performances. Here she articulates it in ways that are candid, joyful, earthy, and most eloquent in her charming manner. She is never pedantic. These conversations reveal the deeply personal and dynamic relationship with her art and the composers who make it happen. Only such humility and integrity, and perhaps a fundamentally iron will, can make her transcendental technique soar in interpretations which have been prodigious and unsurpassed in my concert-going life. Perhaps film gives us a glimpse about a way of being one wish one could achieve. Most tellingly, it is not about the applause, which seems immaterial and irrelevant when dealing with an artist of this caliber ... Read More

I use this video as a demo on how good blu-ray can look and sound. It is also a good stress-reduction tool. Lots of spectacular scenery with a soundtrack that is soothing. It may disapoint viewers who were expecting a more naturalistic experience or a documentary. It is very effective for what it is.

For most fans of "Rod Serling's Night Gallery," season two is when the show really hit its stride with its kaleidoscopic mix of thoughtful Serling originals ("Class of '99," "Dr. Stringfellow's Rejuvenator," "The Messiah on Mott Street," "Lindemann's Catch," "Deliveries in the Rear") and vivid adaptations of classic horror fiction by Serling and others ("The Boy Who Predicted Earthquakes," "A Fear of Spiders," "Silent Snow, Secret Snow," "A Question of Fear," "Pickman's Model," "Cool Air," "Camera Obscura," "Green Fingers," "I'll Never Leave You--Ever," "The Sins of the Fathers," "The Caterpillar," and many more). Most of the series' best-remembered story segments are here in their original, uncut broadcast form; so are the critically reviled comic blackouts, which left a bad taste in the mouths of some ... This DVD shows Johnny Cash during the heyday of his career in the late sixties. I want to say it shows him "in his prime," but that is a matter of debate. Even though he was not at the height of his powers physically, the series of recordings that he did at the end of his life with producer Rick Rubin is among his best work. This production highlights that phase of his career when he and June Carter Cash were riding the wave of hit songs that made him a household name in country music and beyond.

Raw concert performances of a number of those songs, including "Ring of Fire," "Daddy Sings Bass," "Folsom Prison Blues," and "Jackson," are found along with rare recordings of lesser-known songs. This includes a couple of gospel songs and some guest appearances, that include a solo performance ... Read More

My son has been watching this series of DVD's since he was 4 months old. He is now 2 1/2 and can read over 500 words. We stopped counting at 500! He can read any word we put in front of him. He knows his ABC's and can count to 100. He is also rapidly learning Spanish and German. I KNOW that it is because of these DVD's that he is so far advanced for his age. He often reads words that we didn't even know that he knew. These DVD's teach the pattern of reading and learning. I know that all children would benefit greatly from watching these DVD's. I recommend these DVD's to all parents! They are worth every penny!

I absolutely love this blu-ray. I watch it over and over and still enjoy it just as much each time. As a scuba diver, i feel like i'm getting the next best thing watching this, when i can't be in the water. the quality is phenomenal, and anyone interested in the underwater world will marvel at the interesting critters shown going about their business. Please note though that this is not a documentary as such, it has no commentary, and if i was to find any fault at all with it it would be the background (elevator) music. but hey, turn that down and put your own music on if you prefer. It's awesome!

ABBA from Sweden are the real kings and queens of rock & roll. The music of the 1970s became the music of the 1990s, and the ABBA revival was the tip of the spear. ABBA Gold went double platinum in the United States. More ABBA Gold and the box set, Thank You For The Music, sold. Classics like Dancing Queen, Take A Chance On Me and Waterloo again rode the airwaves. ABBA books were published. VH1 featured ABBA The Movie.

ABBA sold 250 million records between 1972 and 1982. Nearly every country in the world bought ABBA. Only China, North Korea and Vietnam resisted. ABBA had nine number ones in Britain. Fernando to this day is the biggest selling record in the history of Australia's music business. The group toured the United States in 1979 and Japan in 1980.
